2025-26 Rankings

KenPom ranks dropped today.

SJU 16th.

Computers are much lower on us than humans are

Johnnies will face 5 OOC top 25 KenPom teams, 6 if you count Michigan. Maybe 7 depending on Vegas. Meanwhile in the BE only UConn is top 40, though there are 4 BE teams from 40-50.

Obviously these rankings will change once games are played, but for a team with Title aspirations like St. John's it was absolutely necessary to schedule a difficult OOC. Rest of the BE needs to step up, which feels funny to say as a Johnnies fan.

As an avid St.John's fan, I checked in on Ken Pom's prediction for my 2025-26 Johnnies and Ken has them losing to Iowa St., Kentucky, and twice to Uconn. Their record for the full season is therefore 22-8 and 14-6? That does not compute. Seems like 26-4 and 18-2 would be a reasonable alternative.

Yes the way KenPom calculates the records is by adding up the % to win each game.

For example if you have a 10 game stretch and KP's algorithm projects you to lose each game by 1 point with a 49% chance to win each game your projected record would actually be 5-5 instead of 0-10

Another couple AP ballots:

#4 UConn
#6 St. John's
#23 Creighton

Pretty much identical to what I expect the Poll to look like this afternoon, and the next ballot is better for the BE:

#3 UConn
#5 St. John's
#17 Creighton

Updating our average with the confirmed AP voters this year:
Seth Davis (Hoops HQ): #3
