Big difference between the computers and the people. I do take the computers more seriously once the season has started and there's actual game-data in it.
It's worth the $5 a month for Evan MiyakawaBig difference between the computers and the people. I do take the computers more seriously once the season has started and there's actual game-data in it.
3 of our regular season opponents as well as Michigan also in top 10.![]()
#6 in kenpom’s human poll (this is actual voting not stats)
He's an alfred.Just my two cents on UConn. Seems most voters are expecting Karaban to be a Batman when he clearly showed last season he is just a Robin. UConn is stacked but if Hurley allows him to take a high volume of shots, they may suffer the same fate as last year.
Agree on Karaban. I think the biggest need from last year is clear. Hurley has noted a number of times his squad in 2025-2026 must be a lot more physical than last season and defend at a consistently high level. That of course is easier said than done.Just my two cents on UConn. Seems most voters are expecting Karaban to be a Batman when he clearly showed last season he is just a Robin. UConn is stacked but if Hurley allows him to take a high volume of shots, they may suffer the same fate as last year.

College basketball rankings: Purdue to edge Houston for No. 1 in preseason AP Top 25 poll predictions
Here's how the preseason AP Top 25 could look when it is released Mondaywww.cbssports.com
Creighton not mentioned. Two top 5 BE teams is definitely possible and off the top of my head I can only remember one week where that's happened- 10 seasons ago when #5 Xavier beat #1 Villanova. Too bad the rest of the conference has been pretty disappointing this off-season, but St. John's and UConn being elite is the best storyline IMO.
They were mentioned in the teams also getting votes just outside the top 25.Creighton not mentioned.
Perhaps I'm going back too far, and misremembering, but during the magical '84-'85 season, SJU was #1, Gtown was #2, and 'Cuse was top 5 (if not top 10) for much of the season. Oh well, I'll have to watch "Requiem for the Big East" (again)!!!
Good find Dink. So on New Years Eve 1984 Gtown, Johnnies and Cuse were all in the top 5.
The school would disagree since preseason hype helps their bottom line by leading to more season ticket sales (along with individual tickets for the Alabama game and others), but whether we're #4 (higher end) or #8 (lower end) won't make a big difference. A ranking that high has been expected all off-season given the preseason rankings by ESPN, CBS, etc..that we've had since April.Truly meaningless until games are played, IMHO.

All of it matters if we want the school to justify the massive money spent on the team this year. Preseason sales are always critical in sports because success isn't guaranteed if there's injuries, etc.
