Truly meaningless until games are played, IMHO.
And it wound up being another Big East Team that won the National Championship.Good find Dink. So on New Years Eve 1984 Gtown, Johnnies and Cuse were all in the top 5.
KenPom ranks dropped today.
SJU 16th.
Computers are much lower on us than humans are
Miyakawa's rankings are out: UConn #5, SJU #14.It's worth the $5 a month for Evan Miyakawa
Is this just because we don't have a definitive point guard? WE obviously have more talent than PUKONN.Miyakawa's rankings are out: UConn #5, SJU #14.
KenPom has UConn #5, SJU #16.
I sense a trend here.

Disagree that we have more talent than UConn and the lack of PG I'm sure is a factor. Is this just because we don't have a definitive point guard? WE obviously have more talent than PUKONN.
I just watched a video on another thread and Jon Rothstein said that "pound for pound SJU has more talent than any other team in this sport".Disagree that we have more talent than UConn and the lack of PG I'm sure is a factor.
I agree we have a ton of talent. I also think UConn does too and especially at the PG position, relative to us.I just watched a video on another thread and Jon Rothstein said that "pound for pound SJU has more talent than any other team in this sport".
One man’s opinion and teams don’t play pound for pound. The Johnnie’s (and every other team) will get ample opportunity to prove what they are the only place it matters, on the court.I just watched a video on another thread and Jon Rothstein said that "pound for pound SJU has more talent than any other team in this sport".
But you are a hockey school now. Football is just a diversion to kill some time.As a Penn State football fan, I can agree with Knight that preseason rankings are basically meaningless.

Made the Frozen Four last season, and then ponied up for McKenna for a year before he probably goes first overall in the 2026 NHL draft.
Yes the way KenPom calculates the records is by adding up the % to win each game.As an avid St.John's fan, I checked in on Ken Pom's prediction for my 2025-26 Johnnies and Ken has them losing to Iowa St., Kentucky, and twice to Uconn. Their record for the full season is therefore 22-8 and 14-6? That does not compute. Seems like 26-4 and 18-2 would be a reasonable alternative.
