AP Poll 3/10/25:
#6 St. John's
#25 Marquette
---
#30 UConn
#32 New Mexico
#33 Creighton
#39 Xavier

One spot behind Alabama. Also, wow I wasn't expecting Marquette (previously #20) to remain ranked after an 0-2 week.

Vote total of 10 points ahead of #7 and behind #5 is also very fair, lol.

Interesting result. I'd have gone
1. Duke
2. Auburn
3. Houston
4. Florida
5. Tennessee
6. Alabama
7. Mich State
8. SJU

But Marquette staying in the rankings is a commentary on the AP thinking we are very good and no shame losing at home to us.

Also seems clear that where the line is after #8.

Get the Saturday night and we seem like a safe 2 seed. Awesome.

I think you are feeding into the metric bull and the so called lower quad 1 opportunities of the sec and big too much. No way we should be number 8.

I could flip us and MSU, decided that after I posted. But no I don't look at metrics, I watch basketball games. Even ones that don't involve the Big East!

OK sorry to insinuate the metric stuff with you. I just get so angry about it.

Tennessee and Alabama also in my opinion, they are good for sure but Tennessee to me is very questionable as one of the top teams in the county. After Auburn, Florida and Alabama (who I also think can be knocked off by more than enough teams) the middle of the pack so called quad 1's in the sec are so hit or miss. The fact that somehow they remain quad 1 games in the eyes of the metrics over inflates these guys at the top as well.

Yeah, 10 points behind #5 Alabama and 10 points ahead of #7 MSU shows how close these teams are. We're 149 points behind #4 Florida for instance. Our placement the last couple weeks has come down to just a few ballots. Not surprised by #6 since that's what I guessed yesterday, but am very surprised (and pleased) that Marquette remains ranked since we may play them in the semis. Moving down just 5 spots after going 0-2 shows the AP either really respects St. John's/UConn, or forgot about the unranked UConn loss.

Also, I know the AP rankings lose their luster after Selection Sunday, but would be very fitting to win the BET and move into the top 5, and of course solidify a 2 seed.

Tennessee now ranked #1 in Kenpom Defense followed by Houston and then us. They are legit on defense, similar to how we are. They will be a tough out in the tournament.

Tennessee is my question mark as well. Duke and Auburn are the top 2 depending on the last game. Houston and Florida are undeniable.

Then Tenn is a bit of a question mark, the question is how high do you move Bama (clearly higher for me than the AP), and MSU and us are sort of a coin flip.

Just my take, nothing beyond debate or scientific about it
