All of the results yesterday made it difficult for St. John's to move up in the the rankings. #1 and #2 lost, but we're not passing them. #6 Florida is a team I thought we could pass, but after they upset #1 that's obviously not happening. #5 Houston almost lost but pulled away during the last minute. Yesterday really solidified the resumes of #3-6, so barring anything crazy we're not entering the top 6.
That leaves #7-11, so here's how they did:
#7 Purdue: W @ Iowa, W Vs. USC - it's possible we'll pass them but I'm leaning toward no
#8 Iowa St: L @ #16 Kansas, W Vs TCU - I think we'll pass them, they've now lost 3/4
#9 Michigan St: L @ UCLA, W Vs Oregon - I definitely think we'll pass them
#10 Texas A&M: W @ South Carolina, W @ #15 Missouri - two very close Ws, I think we'll pass them
#11 Marquette: L @ #12 St. John's, L @ Creighton - we'll pass them
#12 St. John's: W Vs #11 Marquette, W @ #19 UConn - everyone knows the results but had to type out again
Today's results won't matter, no teams will pass us regardless of what happens today.
I'm guessing we'll be #8, plus or minus one spot. I think #7 (passing everyone listed above including Purdue) also has a decent shot at happening. CBS / Parrish for instance moved us up 9 spots to #8 after our win on Friday, passing a lot of teams that hadn't lost.
If we're #9 our ranking will be the highest since 2000
If we're #8 our ranking will be the highest since 1999
If we're #7 our ranking will be the highest since 1991
No matter where we're at tomorrow, it'll be a phenomenal ranking for our program.
