2024-25 Rankings

Games to watch to see if we can gain ground on:
12 PM: #9 Michigan St vs. Oregon
12 PM: #8 Iowa St vs TCU
12PM: #4 Tennessee @ Oklahoma
3:30 PM: #10 Texas A&M @ #15 Mizzou
4PM: #6 Florida @ #1 Auburn
4PM: #5 Houston @ Colorado
6:30 PM: #2 Duke @ Clemson
8:30 PM: #3 Alabama @ Arkansas
So we already jump Mich St and Iowa St with their loses this week and our two wins
If Florida losses- I think we jump them even if it’s a loss to Auburn
Does and A&M win over a #15 trump our 2? Don’t think so…

So that takes us to #6…. With potential to overtake the 5 spot if some guys give us the nod over Houston…

Gonna be floatin next week

Lunardi has us as a 4 th seed in NCAA, Marquette 3rd seed ???

Going to fact check Jon here.

East Regional site is Newark.
But the first/second round sites are: Raleigh (1 vs 16, 8 vs 9), Seattle (5 vs 12, 3 vs 13), Denver (6 vs 11, 3 vs 14), Cleveland (7 vs 10, 2 vs. 15)

Providence first/second round games means you're in the West (San Francisco) or South (Atlanta), but those are only the 4/13 and 5/12 games.

So I'd rather go for the two seed and play in Cleveland or Denver.
Those seeds and locations are not bracketed just this projection. Pods for the first two rounds are assigned geographically to the higher seeds preference. Bracket will be filled out by "balanced seeding". Providence? Newark could definitely happen particularly if two seed or higher.

For SJU to get the regional advantage of playing in Providence and the East Regional in Newark they will have to get either the 3 or 2 seed in East. To do that they will probably have to win BE regular season and at worst get to BET final.

Our KPI is 17, 1 behind MQ who are at 16. Creighton 31 and UConn 46. I think KPI is the metric that hurt us with the committee last year. Im no expert at this stuff, but maybe UConn is in trouble if they don't bring it up a bit?
KPI is just horrible. It’s basically rpi which everyone agreed was bad

It’s tough to jump teams that haven’t lost, even if we deserve it after beating two top 25 teams. That just seem to be the way they vote. #8, 9, and 11 have losses this week. #9 seems most realistic. #8 if they vote us over A&M, who hasn’t lost, but hasn’t played yet this week. We’ll see. There is still a lot of basketball to be played this week, and this season. Just keep winning!
We will be getting a ton of top 5 votes after this crazy week. We are the it team right now. I don’t how long that lasts and maybe that’s not fair to the teams ahead of us that don’t lose, but that’s how these polls work.

Also our lowest placements were from guys who, perhaps correctly, doubted us because we hadn’t beaten any top 25 teams. That’s no longer the case.

If Creighton beats Marquette they should be ranked when we host them next Sunday.

Pretty crazy that we could have 3 Big East teams somewhere in the 20's tomorrow... and then Top 5-10 St. John's. Similar to 5-10 years ago, except now it's the Johnnies leading the conference rather than Nova.

#80 Kansas St beats #9 Kansas by 8, so that win should move up to Q2 (top 75) for us tomorrow.

Current resume (with Kansas St still being listed as Q3):
Q1: 3-3
Q2: 5-0 (6-0 tomorrow)
Q3: 8-0 (7-0 tomorrow)
Q4: 5-0

Voters are getting closer to exactly what they've all secretly desired for a while now . . . being able to move Duke to No 1.

I'm paranoid we might get shorted a bit.
