We really do need to stay in top 25 rest of way. If someone other than St John’s, UConn or Marquette wins BET, conference is not getting a 4th bid.
We need a healthy Smith to be able to accomplish that.
That would be 4 bids though. That’s St John’s, Marquette, and UConn, and the 4th team winning the BET
Wait until we beat Marquette.
Bracket Matrix's update today has us a 7 seed and in 69/69 brackets. Nice to finally move past that dreaded 8/9 game.
Also: Marquette a 2 seed. UConn a 6 seed. Creighton a 10 seed. There's your 4 bids, though Creighton is close to the bubble.
Xavier is the 9th team out and will be amped up, obviously need to win Wednesday to keep up the momentum. Not an "optional win", as dk puts it.

We get 3 bids once (because of Kadary sitting out and injuries to Xavier) and everyone acts like we are a three bid league for good.
Don't forget 5 bid stealers last year, which definitely cost Seton Hall, at least. That could happen again, but I doubt it.

Interesting that all the teams in the AP top 25 after #9 (9-19) have less wins than St. Johns has at 16. Another indication that the Big East in general, and STJ in particular being undervalued.

Listen I don’t complain about rankings but it is incredible that a 15 win BE team was not ranked. BE only getting 3 teams in tournament unless three teams secure in top 25 and 4th steals a bid. If we are just outside the top 25 in that scenario we would be in jeopardy.
The question is this: if SJU passes UConn in the polls (already having passed them in the BE standings), does MR jump ship on his beloved Huskies and actually become a St. John's fan?
Logical since he is a grad of “Front Runner State”
Should we help out the League and lose to X to improve their resume...?
Lol hopefully not but we've already done that for Creighton.
Losses to BE bubble teams do sting a bit less for me. Just a bit.
If we do lose I'll probably not look at the rankings for a week or two given how quickly we've been bounced from them over the past 13 years, but I've started to actually expect to win this kind of game.
