2024/2025 Roster

I am amazed every year that Gonzaga seemingly always gets a high nod in seedings , Ratings , etc all while playing in a League that is basically them and St Mary’s .
And , St Mary’s getting a bid while SH , SJU and PC were left out is a disgrace .
Gonzaga would be lucky to be a mid tier team in the BE and St Mary’s would have trouble beating Butler , G ‘town and DePaul .

There is just no way that West Coast League those 2 teams play in could remotely compare to the BE .
How would a team who’s made 9
straight sweet 16s including 5 elite 8s and 2 finals appearances during that stretch, be a mid tier BE team?

Major theme of my fandom has been watching St. John's not close out on three-point shooters. Doesn't matter that they play in the WCC. St. Mary's would kill us most years.

Gonzaga would have been a top two BE team, top three at worst all through Villanova's and UConn's reigns of terror, and right there competing for the top spot. Honestly, St John's hasn't been a good team in anybody's league for a long time. Now I think we are. Hopefully CRP can get this talented group on the same page on both sides of the ball quickly enough that we write our ticket early, get to worry and complain about our seed instead of why we're not playing, and we make some noise for a couple weekends in March!

This isn’t official scince Panther hasn’t been there this week but a coach on the staff ( not Pitino ) said they are super high on the usc kid. He didn’t say anything else other then that kid they think will be better then expected

The only path he has to major playing time is if he somehow becomes a center fielder like Pitino loves.

Prey and Zuby aren’t that type of defender. Maker is but probably not ready to play as a frosh.

His tape and his stats don’t show he’s that kind of player. He’s got 4 months to become one.

He was a high rated 5 star out of HS who suffered some serious injuries throughout his time at USC. If he turns out to be the starting center early on, This team could be even better then our most optimistic fans anticipated. . 😎👍

To temper it a little bit the sane person wrote “ can definitely be a factor January and after “ so my hopes aren’t huge but that text sounded reasonable

It just looks on paper like an upgraded roster, typical year 2 team for Pitino. I particularly like the length and of course three very proven talented adds.

Last year's goal was NCAA bid which was stolen from us and SHU. I really believe we earned it.

This year not quite sky's the limit but this team may very well survive the first weekend in the dance.

Unlike the past xx years (feels like xxx) this is feeling very real.

Find another favorite player, please. For your sake and our’s.

Just looking at our depth is ridiculous. Say for arguments sake, we have a starting lineup of D. Smith, Richmond, Scott, Luis and Zuby.

That leaves us with a second team of Wilcher, Glover/Lefteris, Dunlap, Prey and Iwuchukwu/Maker. Ayo still there as well. Pretty insane looking at all the combos we can use. We have height, athleticism and a lot of depth to go real far.

We do but must learn to play as a team. Hard to do in the nil multiple transfer era. Hopefully with 5 returning players the task will not be as daunting this season.

Agree but a large part of the challenge will be the coach figuring out roles and rotations. Difficult to succeed with 21 different starting lineups and wildly varying minutes.

Given the ability on the roster to match up in different ways there should and certainly will be some variation. But it has to be kept within limits and the communication has to be there as well.

Playing together as a team is probably the single-most important question hanging over this team--a common issue these days, as noted by RMN.
It helps that we have 5 returning players--but only RJ was a 'regular', while the other 4 were basically bench support.
Still, being familiar with Rick's system is a plus.
I'm also hopeful that Kadary, Deivon, and Aaron--all seasoned veterans--will acclimate fairly quickly to Rick's fast-paced style of play.
Seems we definitely have the horses for a deep run this season.
Can't wait for the opening Tip-off.
