2023-24 Roster

I have full faith and confidence in CRP and his staff. He's won and brought in talent everywhere he's been. I liked Storr a lot, but Storr was given an opportunity to stay and chose not to. We want players who want to be here. Wish him nothing but the best. While I would like Wusu back, the whole roster is expendable. We can find similar/better players who fit CRP's system.

Gentlemen, please remember, Jerome Tang took over Kansas State and only brought back two players from his he existing roster. All the other players were first year players in the program and Coach Tang got them to the Elite 8 this season. If Jerome Tang could do it Rick Pitino can do it.

Keep in mind guys, that whatever decisions Rick is making with regard to existing players, are being made with a lot of input from Van. And not only do I trust Rick's decisions, I trust Van's input.
Keeping Van is still a bit surprising to me. Usually you keep an assistant to keep the roster/incoming recruits for the new head coach. With Pitino basically gutting the team why keep Van?

Unless Van is close and respected by the local high school coaches. But even then they already know Pitino.

Coach wants winners. Sometimes winners get stuck on loser teams. I think Soriano, Posh, and Wusu are winners. Hope coach agrees with me.
i think both Posh and Wusu will be retained. AS stated they are winners. Also they will be seniors and Pitino will need their roster spots to go after Boogie, Jackson and Mohammed.

Still to soon to say if the roster will be gutted, and maybe Rick didn't expect there to be a lot of roster turnover initially. The way I see it, if nothing else having Van provided continuity and info regardless of how many kids wind up staying.

Not suggesting the world is caving in by any stretch and thrilled to death we have Pitino. But no one is infallible or above criticism and the SJU job is one hell of a tough job.

Knowing nothing about Storr’s work ethic or character, I think it’s fair to be disappointed he’s leaving. I find it ironic that several posters who fretted over Storr leaving for lack of playing time earlier in the year suddenly find him expendable.
Don't disagree but there is a difference between being disappointed that a player is leaving and questioning whether RP knows what he's doing. That's just ridiculous. I believe RP has earned at least a smidge of 'lets see what happens' before certain posters have a meltdown (not you btw)!

If this is true, why was Pitino told the exact opposite? How does such a huge disconnect exist between what the fans base thinks about these 2 players and what Pitino was told about these 2 players. I just dont get it.

If Posh and Wusu were winners, they would be put in the same category as Joel and Drissa.

Why are you so hung up on categories that only you are talking about?

With Landeborg's decommitme
Getting down to the nitty-gritty here:

Soriano √
Traore √
Alexander
Wusu
Jones
Curbelo
Keita
Storr X
Pinzon X
King X
Stanley X

Gardner
Lendeborg
Reede X

I did predict four by Tuesday. Any bets on who's next?
Can cash those Landeborg tickets if he counts

From Zach...Yaxel in portal:

JUCO All American Yaxel Lendeborg has opened up his recruitment, he announces. Only one recruit, Brandon Gardner, left.

I do find it quite hilarious that we currently have 2 guys on the roster. The Captain and the last guy on the bench. And yet the program is still in better shape today than it's been since about 5 seconds before DJ Kennedy tore his ACL in the Big East tourney
We actually have 9 guys on the roster. Until a kid says that he's gone, I'll still consider him on the roster. Edit: 8 kids now that Yaxel is gone
