2023-24 Roster

I believe this will be incorrect. Players and coaches love him. Dead eye shooter that can open the floor.
Maybe, but not sure how he's going to be able to play competent D at this level, and Pitino has already said the overall defense has a long way to go.

There are too many guys ahead of him. Who's minutes is he taking night in and night out? Just don't see a path to regular playing time. Unfortunately for him, Wilcher and Ledlum came aboard after we had already maxed out scholarships.

I don’t see it but who’s to say he won’t fit in better at the 3 alongside ledlum and Soriano, than some of the other options who are seemingly more ball dominant slashers?

If Quinn were to get quality minutes as the 4, id think there would be less of an opportunity for Conway.

Agreed. My minutes projection was based on everyone being healthy which is extremely unlikely to be the case to be the case throughout the course of the season. In that regard, Conway is a very valuable guy to have as an experienced player with shooting ability that likely won't do anything stupid if pressed into decent minutes due to injuries and whatnot.

Who's projected to be our best three point shooters next year? Jenkins, Dingle, Alleyne, Slazinski, Dunlap, Conway? I think it helps Conway's path to playing time that neither of the wings ahead of him are knock down shooters (yet), and the other potential guy ahead of him is a freshman -- which we always need to remember to temper expectations, especially in the first few months of the season.

I can see a scenario where, assuming he is actually shooting lights out, Conway is carving out 10-15 minutes per game -- especially with second units or where CRP wants to ensure Soriano always has two lights out shooters on the court with him. Of course, we can say the same thing about Dunlap.

I’m not sure Pitino will have any set rotation except for maybe 6 or 7 guys, believe he plays the guys that are playing well at the time.

Give Conway credit for having the confidence to step up from low D1 VMI that playes in the Southern Conference to the bright lights of MSG and St. John's.

Whether Conway plays or not waits to be seen but he kid has stones.
I would not bet against him.

Don't be so sure about that. CRP values those types of kids that can space the floor and have that I will run through a brick wall for you attitude, which is stressed at VMI

You watch a lot of VMI to know what the culture is there? If you expect Conway to get more than 5 mpg I think you're going to be disappointed.

Sounds like you don’t know that VMI stands for Virginia Military Institute unless of course our military has gotten so soft they no longer obey orders and would refuse to run through a wall if so ordered. 🤪

I know what it stands for, thanks for chiming in. I'll ask you the same thing - did you watch one second of VMI last year? Do you know what the culture of that basketball team is? Do you know for a fact that team has a 'run through a brick wall' attitude? Didn't think so.
