McCoy is at the tail end of his career. There is no upside to playing him. Benching Jones for McCoy can only hurt him psychologically. Jones hasn't played well but he has literally nobody around him without Barkley. The line is terrible and the skill players aren't much better.
Jones is in a similar situation as Darnold. The Jets can't stay healthy and are playing "minor league" guys on the line and at the skill positions.
It's hard to tell if Jones and Darnold will eventually be starting caliber NFL quarterbacks because their support casts are so poor. If you put the best of the Giants and Jets together to form one team, they still wouldn't be a playoff contender.
Tanking for Trevor is not the answer. Without a decent line and skill position players, nobody is going to make either team appreciably better in the short term.
