2019 Transfers

That's good news. Was getting worried in the absence of any news since Rutherford's visit...which seems to be the Iron Mike way.
Lol.
Thanks Paultz.

St Johns has two open scholarships left. Was told they are prioritizing grad transfers who can immediately contribute. But are willing to bring in a quality HS prospect. #sjubb

Sounds like Glover may be an 'option' then.
Are there any 'quality HS prospect'(s) left besides Niven?
Lol.

I would not assume anything with Glover. If he ever visits go from there. Big “if” perhaps.

Something isn't computing with Rutherford. If we are prioritizing grad transfers who can play for last 2 spots and we basically have all the minutes he can eat playing alonside Heron and LJ and he's coming from Monmouth, what's the problem exactly? I'm not seeing anything suggesting Thornton or anyone else is coming along at the PG spot.

Doesn't necessarily mean we're out. One possibility is he is still finishing up course work in a summer session.

I personally feel this is just Rutherford taking another visit and at the end of the day he will wind up at SJU.

That's good to hear, Paultz.
Do you think we're still looking at Devale Johnson, and/or a 'quality' HS kid?
Just curious.

I just offered my opinion on Rutherford and have not seen anything to indicate Johnson is not a prospect.

This is the best news I've heard all day. As far as judging between recruits who play similar positions, I will defer to staff who have actually seen these guys play and followed them extensively. I am no expert, just a fan who has followed basketball religiously for 55 years. But just like we alI saw the obvious need for another big the last 2 years, the need for a second point guard who can handle the ball well enough to break a press stands out. I've watched enough of Mustapha, LJ & Greg to see, while they have many outstanding strengths, this is not one of them (at least not up till now). Although I haven't seen Eli Wright play, others have indicated he is not going to help as a primary ball handler. Signing Rutherford is just what we need imho. If we do that and add a little more size with last schollie I'd be thrilled.

That’s good news.
Thank you.

Totally trust this staff right now. Feels like we're in good hands. Even if they don't land the exact guys we all hope they do it's encouraging to feel like they understand and are in agreement with most of us fans about what the needs are. That seems like a very good thing. Really great to hear so many updates about offers, interest and a full staff at recruiting events.

Hope Bryan finds a good fit at Akron if that is where he winds up. Mid American Conference with some decent teams like Buffalo & Bowling Green. Maybe use his sit-out year to work on adding some offense off the dribble.

I like it for the 1 year. Experienced and good size.
