Please don't schedule any DII, or DIII games please. The tougher the schedule the better we will be. Duke away in addition to some quality games will be nice for our returning veteran squad ;)

Agree. Of course for the one or two exhibition games you have no choice.

Those darn exhibition games! I had a bad feeling about this season when we lost that exhibition game to Rutgers.

Why doesn’t Chris Mullin do a NY tournament like Nova does with the other Philly schools?

Schedule: Iona, Hofstra, Columbia, Fordham and St. bonaventure?

Because the Bonnies would win (at least this year). Nova doesn't put on Philly tournament. You must be referring to the Philly Big 5 schools that all play each other every year and have done so for like 100 years except that it may have been discontinued somewhat a few years ago.

Great idea. Maybe throw in Manhattan, Niagara, Canisius, and Fairfield into the mix also and pick best available?

I don’t think it’s discontinued. Nova just went through the philly 5 this year.

They beat Penn
90-62

They beat temple
87-67

They beat St. Joseph’s
94-53

And lasalle University
77-68

We use to play all local teams in our exhibition schedule and then we started losing to them - Hofstra, Manhattan,St. Francis, LIU.

For the most part we stopped playing these teams.

If they want to boost attendance playing local teams would help.

Right now we know 4 games:
- Temple, Oregon, VCU ( 2 of 3) at Barclays centter
- @ Duke
- Georgia Tech in Miami

Only 8 teams play in Gavitt games, wondering since we are Duke if we try to take off next year as our Gavitt game would probably be a road game.

Loved the schedule this year but I dont want to see any D2 teams on the schedule next year. It's pointless

I honestly could care less if we scheduled the Little Sisters of the Poor in non-conference play next year, as long as when the BE tournament rolls around, we're solidly in the top half of the the BE standings. Give us 10+ wins in BE play, and we'll be dancing - whether we beat the Little Sisters or not. (I hear the Sisters guard the 3 really well and rebound the heck out of the ball, so I wouldn't automatically put it in the W column!) B) B)

I disagree, you need to play a solid non conference schedule these days. Otherwise ten wins will only put you on the bubble. For example, In Big Ten Penn State and Nebraska. Nebraska has 13 conference wins and finished in 4th. You need to play a solid non conference schedule these days.

I've always thought that the Holiday Festival at MSG should always be St. John's and any combination of Iona, Manhattan, Fordham, Columbia, Hofstra, St. Francis NY, Wagner, LIU. It should be St. Johns and the best three teams of the remaining group on that given year. A two day event with the two winners from the first day playing the second day.

Often thought of this idea- and think the Holiday festival used be tournament style back in the day. It would be great to bring it back- 8 teams, 4 games/3days or a day off between the semis and finals- more than enough teams to do so in the area... similar to Maui

SJU/Hofstra/Manhattan/Fordham/Iona/Columbia/LIU/St.Francis....etc...you guys get the picture.

The Big Ten was a poor major conference this year. They underperformed OOC and only 4/14 teams will make the dance. Compare that to the Big East which will get 6 or 7 out of 10.

We all know SJU had an excellent OOC and only needed about 7/8 conference wins to get on the bubble.

When you schedule a strong OOC, you give your team more control over your outcome. For example, while we only needed 7 BE regular season wins to get on the bubble, we likely would've needed 9-10 regular season Big Ten wins.

One of these years the Big East will have a year like the Big Ten. I rather have a strong OOC to counter that, especially when we have an experienced team very capable of winning.

I think this year's schedule was excellent. I wouldn't make it any tougher, maybe a tad bit easier but not by much.

Having a two day tournament at CA with local teams like the old Lapchick tournament might make some sense but before you mention MSG here are some recent facts;
1 the MAAC held a six team three game event at Nassau Coliseum recently with Iona/ Manhattan the final game on a beautiful Sat and sold just over 2,500 tickets
2 Iona the class of the MAAC was hoping to sell 2,000 tickets for the first time this season final regular season game vs Manhattan
3 For the MAAC five event season ending tournament at Albany with ten schools they sold just over twenty five thousand tickets
4 Fordham, Manhattan , Hofstra etc all consider a crowd of 3,000 cause for celebration
5 I don't have any answers for this but college basketball attendance in the metro area is worse than pathetic
6 If MSG charges two hundred and fifty thousand for rent as was posted some time ago it won't make sense for locals to play games there.

Easy.

Looking forward to the Georgia Tech game. Hopefully Alvarado comes back healthy and Ponds can show him up.

Huh I don't understand this...they need to play a tough non conference it helps with SOS and RPI and prepares the team for the BE games.
