2017 Transfers

Jones would have been a significant contributor for us this season. That's not even debatable.

He put up decent numbers in a lot of minutes on a crappy team in a ceapoy conference. Give him Yakwe's 20 mins in the BE and he doesn't put up much better stats Is my guess

Anytime someone says some variation of "it isn't even debatable," it is usually very debatable.

I am not picking on you RedmanMike. I slip and say the same thing.

Don't know that his stats would have been significantly better than KYs, but think our offense would have flowed better with him on the floor, and he would have done a better job defensively against some of the big PFs in the conference. Our guards would have worked well with him on the pick and roll. And thats not even debatable ;)

I think that's very debatable. I think he would have given us what he gave us the year before if we were lucky. Unless you think those numbers are significant. I don't.

Last year's numbers may not be significant but they're better than any of the other bigs gave the team this year, and even marginal improvement would have moved hit to 10 and 6. That wouldn't have helped?

What's not debatable is that both Yawke and Jones should have been on the roster. The frontline was so weak that having any body like Jones would have been a help. Ellison should not get any minutes except as a backup guard

I don't think there would have been even marginal improvement. But I suppose even 8 ppg would have been better than what we've gotten. Would we have won more games because of Christian Jones, though? I really can't see it.

Maybe LIU. ;)

It is kind of shocking how bad all the losses in conference all were with the exception of the Xavier loss at home by only 5. And even in that game they were down by 15 with 9 mins to play.

Jones by himself would not have made that much difference but his loss coupled with Sima's leaving makes the staff look bad. Playing a big east schedule with the current frontline is really challenging.

Gents, I don't mean to imply that Jones would have been All-BE, but he would have been a solid contributor. Think of it this way... let's assume Jones would have played a typical sixth man type role. He would likely have taken the majority of Ali's minutes and a chunk of Yakwe's minutes. Under that scenario, are we better or worse than what we had this season? I think that's an easy one.

Give me a grad transfer big man who can play immediately and average a solid 8 to10 points a game and 4-6 rebounds a game and more importantly be able to catch a ball and keep a defense honest.
someone like Christian jones? Lol he averaged 10.5 and 6.5 this season

6 rebounds doesn't even qualify him for top 250 in the country even worse if you assume he played 30 mins per game

Fun Fact: CJ's 6.7 boards a game would put him in 2nd for the BE conference.

That tells me more about our conference's collective chances in the tournament than it does about Jones.

Nova will surely miss Ochefu's inside presence.

And losing Omari Spellman, a beast, to eligibility issues really hurt.

South Florida's Luis Santos has requested his release and intends to transfer, per a source. Averaged 6.2 PPG and 4.1 RPG. - Rothstein

He got the size, from NYC, and went to Sunrise Christian. But numbers pretty weak on a bad team and I believe he has to sit a year.

Joey Knight‏ @TBTimes_Bulls

BREAKING: @USFMBB leading scorer Geno Thorpe says he doesn't intend to play for the Bulls next season. Thorpe is set to graduate in June.

Also played for Penn St. originally
Thanks for making me google him, ;) not exactly a household name, probably even in his own house. Would give us good size in backcourt with Simon and (cough) Ellison. Like his assist and steals numbers and was their leading scorer at 15 with .375% 3 pt shooting.

Are we recruiting the whole south Florida team? Weren't we recruiting their other pg who left earlier in the year? Did that middling team really carry two big east caliber pgs
