Any chance Brandon likes big cities with playing time?
That would leave Trimble on the outside looking in so unless Ponds is leaving and the staff knows so, I don't see any playing time with Dixon becoming eligible.

Are you suggesting that the staff would forego recruiting a top 50 guard bc “it would leave Trimble on the outside looking in?” That can’t be right.

And if what we’re hearing about Trimble’s behavior today in the Providence game thread is true, he may not be here next year.

I'm suggesting that with Ponds , Simon, Williams and Dixon that a top 50 player will go where he either starts or gets major minutes.
The staff would pursue him if they felt Ponds was leaving.
If the above were to happen there would be no spot whatsoever for Kimble. He would be a goner. He will have limited playing time next year as it is with the 4 scheduled to be here.

Are we focusing on any JUCO kids for next season?

I would think a top 50 kid would play over Williams and perhaps Dixon as well. We should continue to go after the best kids we can get. I don’t think at this point the staff can determine with certainty whether or not Ponds will return. We certainly will have no problem finding the scholarships to give away after this year concludes.

Per Corey Evans
Wyatt Walker has received his release to transfer. Two years to play and immediately eligible. Averaged over 10 points and six rebounds during each of his seasons at Samford

Apparently, WW was ‘a highly-touted’ freshman but injured most of that year. He had a solid soph season, but has missed most of his junior year, except for 2 games, due to a leg injury. FWIW.

Go hard after this kid. Don’t wait to see who else opens up. Just go. 13 & 10 plus 58%from the field and mid 70s from the line. All as a sophomore.

Why is he immediately eligible?

I suppose he took summer classes.

Looks like a do it all big, drop step pivot moves, out side shot, especially liked his passing ability. Poor man's Bill Walton. Have to assume will be highly coveted by many high majors.

Samford plays in Southern conference with schools like VMI, Mercer & Wofford, but here are some of his numbers against the better non-conference opponents they played last year:
Sand Diego 16 pts. 15 rebs
Cincy 11 pts. 11 rebs
St. Louis 15 pts 11 rebs
New Mexico State 11 points, 14 rebs.
CTI tournament game against Canisius 23 pts 14 rebs

We should definitely go after this guy if he is healthy and immediately eligible

I remember it was a late recruitment. Believe he was sitting on offers until the Illinois one that he was waiting for came. Seton Hall may have been on him at the time.

This is the kid. Highlight videos are no substitute for a staff's due diligence, but what I see here is exactly what we have needed for a long time. I agree with Mase.....would love to see us go all in on this kid.
