No thanks, too tall.

Funny. Exactly, Johnny Fan. That's the spirit!

Right, so why keep pounding away every time some guy 6'8" or taller announces he's transferring, Paultz has stated that we're done for next season,

Because it was a definite and designated need for next season that the Staff—Mullin included—wanted to fill to complement and supplement Keita.
So, yeah, it’s great that IF Shamorie returns, we have a better team than last year and full of shooters.
There’s no disputing that—but our weak spot will likely remain rebounding, where we ranked about 335th of 351 Div. 1 teams last year.
I’m even relatively optimistic we’ll play smarter and actively play a ‘help’ defense instead of guys camping beyond the arc gazing at the beauty of their shot, and hopefully improve on that weakness.
But it still does not eliminate the reality of an unfulfilled need that was frustrating to watch in 2017-18 and sealed many of our losses.
That’s all.
But no question: Let’s go Johnnies.

That's not true, though. If the staff gazes at the recruiting landscape and determined that the best big we have a shot at over the next two seasons was a transfer this season, someone would be ever so politely kicked to the curb.

Transfer list now over 600. There's still a couple of hundred to go assuming it matches the level of the past two years.

More recent transfers seem to announce their destinations at the same time as they announce their transfer.

When did the staff ever say that? Or was it that a few posters, yourself included said it?

If someone were to be "kicked to the curb", i would think it would be for someone who could help this year. We're going to have 3 sit out transfers taking up space at the end of our bench with the depth problems we had last year?

Are we all so sure that the 6 foot 8 4 star guy with the leg problem is not ready to contribute next season?

I know we heard that he's not healthy yet. I'm hoping what we're hearing is wrong.

It would be great if he can contribute and I don't have any definitive information to the contrary. That said, keep in mind that in addition to coming off an injury, he has not played organized basketball in almost two years, has never played a minute of college basketball and is super rail thin.

Even in the best case scenario, I wouldn't count on him too much.

From staf feedback, little is expected of him. Secondly he would have been guy nudged out if they needed roster spot. Lastly, he is raw, rail thin & a small forward. Take a look at the guys sitting out this year and it easy to see PT will be tough to get for him.

Malik Hines will not return to UMass next season, per a source. Will either turn professional or be a graduate transfer. Averaged 9.0 PPG and 6.1 RPG.

I'm impressed with his skills. For what we need, he is perfect. Has the ability to score, is a big body and can spell our "center" for 10-15 minutes..

I like him.

Wouldn't have to worry about this guy standing on the perimeter hoisting threes. Didn't take one three in three years at UMASS and shot 73% from foul line and 66% from field last year. However, given he got 27 mpg last year, expect he will demand the kind of major minutes we don't have to give at this point.
