2017-18 Transfers

Why can’t any of our staff members, other then Matt, get off their arse and help recruit?
If I was a player and I had one of the Hall of Famers come to see me that would really mean something to me. Oh well....
I’ve argued that Mullin is a legend. He may not be the greatest sales man, but he is humble and can tell recruits how good it was to play for SJU. . He should be able to recruit more ,especially in NYC. Coach K recruits, coach Calipari recruits. The fact that Matt is our only recruiter is mind boggling and there is no excuse for it. Especially after a 9 th place finish year 3.
According to the time-and-motion algorithm that was applied to Steve Lavin by an unbiased fan, Chris Mullin, after 3 short years, has out worked Lavin on the recruiting trail and this incessant dialogue about his work ethic is unnecessary. Obsessing over where or what our coach is doing is not going to help things turn around. Who can blame him, Mitch and Greg for making a bee line to the airport after such a long cold winter? Besides, recruiting is overrated. Everyone knows that even with just 3 or 4 star players that it is the experience of having played NBA basketball that will turn our moribund program around. Must every other post be about how Matt is the only recruiter? Give Mullin some slack. He may be calling recruits every day for all we know. I, for one, believe in you Mully!

Syracuse sophomore Matt Moyer will transfer, he a

nnounced. Sit one, play three forward. Should see a heavy amount of suitors line up. Talented forward prospect
Pretty much got in during the NCAA Tourney when the starters were in foul trouble, looked nervous. Who wouldn't be with smiley Boeheim.

So is there any concrete evidence that Mullin and his staff are doing nothing on the recruiting trail? I'd love to see him more visible too, but alot of assumptions being made here.

Fairfield Sophomore Ferron Flavors Jr. announced he’s transferring. Sophomore averaged 12.3 points per game for the stags.

Very good shooter from St. of Washington. Sidney Johnson another coach who loses good players every year

Per Corey Evans
Wagner sophomore guard Blake Francis has received his release & will transfer. Above 40-percent 3-pt shooter who averaged 17 points this past year

Guards are falling from the sky seeking more shots and winning on a bigger stage—where-o-where are those quality bigs who (also) want to play for the Johnnies?!?
I know Matt is beating the bushes.
Waiting is tough.
Go get ‘em Matt!

Per Sean Bock
“6-foot-11 Garden City CC (KS) center Jeffrey Otchere has committed to Stony Brook, a source told ZagsBlog.

Otchere chose the Seawolves over New Mexico State, Washington State, Santa Clara, and Iona. Can play right away and has 3 years left of eligibility.”

If we can't do better than Stony Brook I am going to start a thread to implore St. John's to hire Pitino Jr.! :p

We can't even use the campus excuse, because Stony Brook really sucks.

CJ Walker has received his release and will transfer from Florida State, a source tells @247Sports. Averaged 8 PPG & 2.4 APG this season

ANOTHER GOOD ONE

Xavier commit Evan Boudreaux, who averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 boards last season, told ESPN he will re-open his recruitment. Grad transfer with two years remaining.

Took ~4 3-pointers/game with high rebounding numbers at Dartmouth for 2 seasons. He never went to Xavier so I'm assuming he can transfer to other BE schools.
Houston's Valentine Sangoyomi will graduate and transfer, per a source. Immediately eligible.
This is one of the guys I was thinking when researching potential postgrads.

The total count is 277. There's a lot of names to come out. The total has been at least 800 for each of the past three years.

Very intriguing. Hope Matt pursues the guy. And hope we beat out Sister Jean for this guy!
One would think he might be on the fast train to Louisville to follow Mack.
Good point Windy City, unless he’s antsy about ultimate Louisville sanctions, and wants to finish his college career on a big stage (that X would’ve provided but LOU with the sanctions might be in the post season doghouse).
So, maybe he’s thinking he either goes to another team in the high majors and/or repairs back home to Chicago area.
