Manhattan going dancing

Good for Mas, did a nice job tonight.

Mad max Masiello showed America what drinking 6 Red Bulls does to your adrenaline. Is it just me or do all the Manhattan coaches over the past 20 years appear to suffer from the same borderline personality disorder? He is very entertaining to watch on the sidelines however but that ISIS beard has got to gp!

I have not seen Iona play before last night this year but was not impressed. They play lousy defense, do not rebound well for a team their size, do not create many turnovers and rely way too much on the three point shot. They missed so many easy shots inside and Manhattan finished.

I happened to watch some of all of each of the Manhattan/Iona games this year. They are lousy on defense. They need to outscore early because their havoc offense starts to breakdown under pressure. Amayo is a bull in a china shop. NBA body, lo major skills and manos de piedra, which is good in boxing. His missed slam killed their momentum.

I thought that missed dunk was the turning point too. I think he saw sheeds and tried to beat it. But that definitely downhill from there

More likely bipolar affective disorder with co-occurring substance abuse disorder.

Will Baldi show his face, or hide until our next coaching gaffe?

Ricky may be doing a self imposed double secret suspension.

Thanks for thinking of me. And btw team rules usually means caught smoking weed

Smoking weed would make you late for practice and class I guess. I feel bad for Iona missing out on a NCAA bid again as they are actually an enjoyable team to watch and they have some talented players but the MAAC is a 2 horse stable and their conference record is rendered meaningless as a result. I actually think they can do damage in the NIT if they played better defense.

Too bad the seeding wouldn't have worked out for Kentucky-Iona. We would have had a 160-110 game on our hands.

Crazy world...I've agreed with your last two-dozens posts.

Baldi, Are Iona fans blaming Cluess for loss/calling for different approach to his strategy?

Some. But Cluess is well liked, especially after watching Willard coached team for a few years. Like watching paint dry. Unfortunately, Cluess offense doestnt involve a big lumbering rebounder. That hurts come tourny time, as evidenced with Aston Pankey. He killed it.

Lunardi has Iona in next four out. This site has Iona matched up against Murray St in the NIT. I think Murray St deserves a bid

I personally don't think we could beat uva. Just my opinion

They won't give us Duke or Nova again so soon, so it's either Kentucky or UVa if we sit in the 8 spot.

Yep.... In that scenario, I'd take Virginia all day!

It would be a very, tough game, if we were to advance, as Virginia plays dog defense. They'll probably have Justin Anderson back by the time the NCAA tournament starts next week, but there is a chance he could have some rust after sitting the last 8 games of the season.

An anemic offense and a Justin Anderson possibly getting back into game shape may could bold well for us. Plenty of time to figuring out scenario's.

We could take UVA if we're on.

The four teams in the country that SJU would have a tough time beating on SJU's best day are Kentucky, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Arizona, not necessarily in that order. Kentucky speaks for itself, and the blend of discipline, offensive efficiency, and lockdown defense of the latter three would be a nightmare for us. The stuff that we do well might actually have a better chance against Kentucky than it does against those three.

Happy to be in under any circumstance, but if we could avoid a second round matchup against these four, even better.

I agree, give me duke, gonzaga, or Kansas any day. But since we played duke and Gonzaga we might not get that matchup. I'd love 7/10 game with Kansas as the 2. I hope we shock nova and get that 6 seed. Would be great

Beat Providence for step 1!!!

Beat Providence for step 1!!!

Agree with both of these posts.

In the 7, 8, 9, 10 scenarios being discussed, being lined up with Kansas in the second round is the best of what we are seeing.

Taking a step back from that, really hope we beat Providence. Nothing to do with Tournament implications. We aren't winning it all, so it's really about these kids playing as many meaningful games as possible. Getting to Friday night in the Big East, likely against Nova, would have some serious juice. Hope they get to experience that.
