2014/15 Line up

With Greene departure:

Starters

G - Jordan
G - Harrison
G - Pointer
F - Jones
C - ADR

Bench

G - Branch
G - Balamou
F- JDR

That is where we are right now. I put ADR in because people on here have said he's a lock and will commit tomorrow. But I will not include Keith Thomas this time until we hear a little more and see if he's actually going to commit. After ADR commits to St. John's tomorrow this is what we are looking at....

Branch starts over Pointer ands presuming we get Thomas he starts as well. Setup by position is

PG Jordan, Branch
SG D'Lo, Jordan
SF Pointer, Felix
PF Thomas, C. Jones
C ADR, JDR

I strongly suspect that Lav has signees in his pocket, particularly shooters who can play the wing position. We shall see.

5 of the 10 guys on that depth chart are projects Fuschia. And that's being generous to Joey Delarosa.

Branch,DLO,Sheed,Dom, Jones. As the season progresses you might see ADR as the starting C.

I feel like if dom shows willingness to rebound early and often in the year, he will start and see a lot of time. Don't count on it though...

Hasn't shown a willingness in 3 years. Doubt he gets it together in his 4th.

Why do I get the sense that it is over. Basketball at st johns has literally been dead for more than a decade and appears at the end of the road. With the power conference BCS schools to deal with and a weakened big east the prospects for any recurits wanting to play here is diminishing quickly. The crazy thing is (and I know none of these kids can really see it) is that if st johns had a team that could be in the top 5 in the Country they would become media gods in the media capital and get more press than any other of the schools like Duke, Cuse etc.... That would enhance their nba marketability. But they dont see it that way because for the most part none of them were even alive when st johns was a winner.

Maybe because they want to play for a good coach.

Maybe because of the last 14 years or so, st johns has become irrelevant in basketball circles- coach or no coach

I would actually be happy with this lineup

Starters

G - Rysheed Jordan
G - D'Angelo Harrison
G - Antoine Mason
F - Christian Jones
C - Adonis De La Rosa

Bench

G - Phil Greene
G - Jamal Branch
F - Dom Pointer
F - Joey De La a Rosa
F - Keith Thomas
G - Felix Balamou

That is what the lineup would be if Antoine came to SJU. Decent lineup right there

Lets hope Christian jones has worked on his game hard, and turns into a jayvon pinkston type player.

You think Antoine Mason is going to deprive Greene of his starting status? If you think we have chemistry problems now, hold on to your hat!

I said I would be happy with that lineup. I didn't say Lavin would use it. For all we know Lipscomb will be a starter next year, who know what goes on in SL's head.

Don't think JoeyDLR is eligible until 2nd semester. Would love to see Thomas and Jones relieved to be pounding on opposition in games as respite from pounding on one another in practice. Presuming SJU has answered the where's the beef question, what may be next is where's the baseline 3 pt shooter who can play D.

I honestly have no idea what goes on in Lavin's head. But with information that Obekpa was uncoachable and Sampson admitting that he was part of the problem, maybe that is the reason he started the lineup at GU. The did start playing better after that game, sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I was not privy to what was going with the team, but I don't think it was unreasonable. Lavin's talk about how he liked this team, was total BS if any of the above was true.

Would it matter if it were?
Lavin had a sweet-16 lineup this season and blew it. Dont get excited about chubby Delarosa commiting. Next years dissapointment will finally force the admins hand and will be Lavs final season
