19-20 Schedule

That's obviously not happening. Not even getting a visit apparently. Top remaining recruit for next year is Heron. If he leaves there will be one ride to give but it won't be someone as good as Heron. Without Heron next year's roster will be a step down in overall skill though hopefully the stronger frontcourt will address one of this team's worst flaws, rebounding. Hope they can stay middle of the pack.
I agree. I think next year this roster (and who knows where we'll be with defections), without Heron, would be a bit deeper, but certainly lack the top line talent we had this year with Heron-Ponds. Still think a realistic goal, assuming everyone but Ponds & Heron (and obviously Clark) returns is to make the tournament again. Could be 4th or 5th team next year in a much stronger Big East. We'd have less talent, but we'd have no real holes with Steere/Manuel/Roberts/a hopefully improved Keita up front, Simon/Mack/Williams/Trimble/Wright (haven't heard much about him) in the back court. LJ/Carraher out on the wing.
It is way too early to know what our roster will be next season but I don't see earning an NCAA tournament bid with the players you mentioned. Outside of Simon if he returns and Figueroa, we don't know what any of the others will provide next year. Trimble would need to improve substantially to continue being anything but a reserve as would Keita. The rest have either not played enough or at all to form any opinion. Even under the unlikely scenario that Heron and Simon stay it seems a stretch to me. Can't say it won't happen but I sure wouldn't bet on it.
Can’t argue w that. Looking at the way our bench played. Really can’t expect much from anyone next year from our bench, which is a sad thought.

Weren't Wright and Steere top 50 recruits?
Wright was more like a top 80 player, while Steere was a top 120 recruit. Besides, Wright has already played two "underwhelming" years of college ball. That's not to say, he won't get it going at St. John's next season (for our and, more importantly, his sake, let's hope he does get it going).

I'm just not exactly enthralled with the potential makeup of next season's roster. You already know what I think about the coaching.
Agree with everything you said. I think it all hinges on Mack and/or a fifth-year PG transfer. If we can get a David Cain impersonation out of him/them, I think Wright and Steere both have good seasons. Throw in Figgy and a Simon who hopefully finally understands his strengths and weaknesses on a daily basis and I think we can be better than advertised. It's going to be tough, though, and I still wouldn't be shocked if Simon headed closer to home.

Sources: Vermont, Rider, Columbia, and Central Connecticut will join Virginia, St. John's, Arizona State, and UMass at the Hall-of-Fame Tip Off at Mohegan Sun in November 2019.
Looks like Vermont is one of our campus games. Vermont is typically a very competitive team.

Yes and it might be a little embarrassing if we lose to them because we still get to advance to the semis of the tourney while they are relegated to the out bracket games.

Does anybody on the Board have any eligibility left?
We may need a ‘6th man’.
Lol.

Wouldn't be the first time that's happened to a team. In fact, some of those teams have gone on to win their tournaments.

Their big scorer, Lamb, should be back for one more year.

The schedule:

Home games: Boston University, George Washington, Lipscomb, Towson.

Road games: Bucknell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Northeastern, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, Virginia, Yale.

The road contests at Virginia and St. John's are part of the on-campus sites for the Hall of Fame Tip Off tournament. The location of the St. John's road game has yet to be determined between Madison Square Garden and Carnesecca Arena in Queens. (As an aside: do they really think they're getting MSG?)

Joining UVM, Virginia and St. John's in the HOF field are Rider, Columbia, Central Connecticut, Arizona State and Massachusetts, according to Jon Rothstein of Sports Illustrated.

Fantastic, 4 games in driving distance from Montreal. Thank you.

Heron missed games this yr and had a lot of no so good games ,think if we can someone or 2 on staff that can hit the bricks and recruit we can find people to match his output and more

Keep telling yourself that! Heron played like a beast, and for a good part of the year was our MVP!

Yeah, when he wasn't going through the motions.

West Virginia-St Johns expected to be at Garden first weekend in December, I’m told. #sjubb

Hopefully Steere gets waiver to play first semester. Need his physicality against WVU who usually plays tough.
Nice to wait for a rebuilding year to play a real OOC game at MSG lol...would've been perfect last year.
So the worst team in the Big 12, the team that lost to Coastal Carolina in the CBI would've been a real OOC game this past year?

One of Figueroa's advisors was ripping SJU today. That's definitely not good. He deleted the tweet and I didn't see exactly what it said, but Zach Braziller brought it up on twitter. That is definitely not good.... Gotta settle this coaching situation now.

Edit: Sorry I meant to post this is 2019-20 thread not schedule. My bad.

The fact that a juco transfer to St. John’s has an “advisor” is pretty laughable. Like his play but obviously playing with ponds heron Simon we could lose by 40 in the first rd of big east tournament without him

Knock it all down, hire a real coach and start over. Been decades of same crap, one on one no plan....but hey we have great athletes

I saw it when up...It wasn't positive but wouldn't see it as ripping... it was a one liner...all it said was something like "c'mon St John's, get it together..smh"

It was Figueroa's prep school coach and head of Dominican junior national team
