19-20 Roster Construction
Javion Hamlet seems an ideal JUCO PG for us, if possible, and TJC is hopefully in hard pursuit.
Hamlet seems maybe a step down from the dynamism of Cameron Mack in scoring (19.1ppg) and overall impact on a game 7.6 a/pg/2.4 stls/g) , but Javion holds his own, averaging 17.8ppg, 6.6 a/pg, was close on a/to compared to Mack at 2.5/g a/to versus 2.8/g for Mack, but is a far more efficient shooter averaging 59% from 2pt range and 44% from 3-pt land versus 52% / 33% for Mack.
He'd be a great 'get'. Let's hope.
And Donte Fitzpatrick Dorsey would be a nice backup PG for us, averaging 14.8 ppg, 49% from 2pt range, 38% from behind the arc, but needs work on assists versus turnovers, which mayne TJ would help improve.
Javion Hamlet would be a home run at this point in time , exactly what we need without the Mack attitude. Mack has yet to step foot in a campus but is already talking about the NBA. Give me Hamlet any day of the week over Mack.

Totally agree RMN. If we can get Javion, no regrets whatsoever on Mack. Hamlet would be that home run PG, indeed.

Two pieces of potentially good news:

1. Just saw a couple of pictures online of CMA working with the team. Heron is in one of them
2. Just checked 247sports.com transfer portal - LJ does not appear to be listed in it

If we can miraculously retain Heron and LJ and add a couple of descent point guards we may have a good team and be competitive in the BE. Love CMAs work ethic .Hopefully we can cap it off w a great staff. Would like to see Hsu come aboard.

Right, I've been checking that 247sports transfer portal the last 3 days, checked again today, and Figgy still not 'there'! Lol.

Regrettably he was in the list of top transfers. Let’s hope he doesn’t want to sit out a year.

Right, TJC seems to have joined Staff. Heard y'day that Hsu was 'imminent' but no further word, and nothing about if/when Andy Borman might join, nor much about Mel Watkins except he may retire, and not much new about the Dobo position.
Hope we have at least 3 coaches by Friday to go to the April 'Live' events.

...but I do not think he's on the 'official' transfer portal list, at least according to 247sports.

Those 2 are by far our most important recruits for next season. The fact that they are working out with CMA days after his hire and a month after the season ended is probably a very pleasant concept to these young men and will assist them in their decision. Hopefully an announcement is made soon that they are staying at SJU.

Well, 'quasi' bad news. I just spotted LJ on Verba Commits transfer portal list, but 247sports has better tracking links by position and by team, and LJ is NOT on their List.
The Kool Aid is telling me to believe 247sports.
Hope it's right!
Lol.

Not good news here. Currently about to take a visit to Western Kentucky.
Yes, seems ominous and also puts Mark Hsu in the 'unknown' box.
You'll discover it's never boring here, MP.
Lol.
Haven't heard anything 'new' about the other AC spots.

I think all of this activity is not restricted to St. John's, I think today with all the transferring that goes on, and coaches moving from one place to another that is part of the college basketball. It seems it is constantly in flux.

Has there been any word that Josh Roberts is staying put? Hope that is the case, he can also thrive in this system.

No reason to think otherwise, at formal workout today seems to confirm that and he never entered portal.

Chris Huey was spotted in the back of the practice pictures, which is a good sign for some continuity.

Absolutely no disrespect meant to Huey but who is he exactly ? He was dobo or something like that ? Braziller or Zags mentioned him and St Jean the other day and I've seen some posters here mention him since Mullin left and I was just curious who he is ? I dont remember anyone mentioning him until recently unless I missed the posts
