17 wins over/under?

Well I have only seen like 4 guys on the current roster play if you don't count you tube clips. So based on that and limited to zero knowledge of the other teams we will be playing I will go out on a limb and say we will win the National Championship.

When we don't win the NC I will immediately post that Mullin should be fired for not meeting my modest prediction.

20 wins should always be the standard.
The 20 win standard is of the 1940s and earlier when Lapchick & Freeman teams played around 25 games. For many years I have been of the opinion that the standard should be number of losses- something between 5 and10.

21, I am in with this. Add not one but 2 guards who can play the point and score, move last years point to off the bench shooting guard where he belongs to bring shooting and an infusion of passion, development of our bigs and add the number one CC player in the country who has a chip on his shoulder. Aim high and achieve.

16 wins + a surprise run to the BE tournament semifinals where everyone is served notice that in 2017-18 we will be the team to beat. 18 wins

I agree. I think people are underestimating this years roster. This team has tournament caliber talent. There are multiple potential NBA players on this squad. Its a roster Jay Wright, Ed Cooley and Chris Mack take to the tourney barring key injuries. The real question is the coaches as some have mentioned already. This season will reveal Mullins talent as a coach.

Respectfully, Wright, Cooley & Mack do so with a core of seasoned, proven players.

Talent is one thing but we have three small guards two of which we'll need to shoulder the load of ball handling. Not to say MVP or NBA potential necessarily but Lovett IMHO is the most important piece of the puzzle and he hasn't played a single game nor has Ponds. So I love the enthusiasm and I think they are phenomenal talents but how Lovett fares against bigger (and more experienced) defenders (and adjusts to his essentially Freshman season) will be the biggest question mark for this season. The same issue with Ponds and we already know that Mussini is not the answer in this position. IF other teams are scrambling to adjust to Lovett which when you see his speed and prodigious ball handling you are excited about, we are going to have a fun season. IF we are scrambling to figure out how our small guards can get past larger guards and turning the ball over, it will be a really painful season.

Correct Paultzman, we are once again very inexperienced. While we have a very deep and talented roster, greatly improved over last season, we probably only have 2 returning starters, both of whom I lOve but are not yet impact players.
I believe Yakwe and Sima will both start again but neither played a full season of college ball. Mussini may start , though I doubt it , but his minutes will be down from last season. I believe we will have a freshman pg in Lovett and Ponds ,Ellison and Mussini alternating between the 2 and 1 but they are all playing a new position. Bashir a jc all American will replace a 5th year senior at the 3. I believe he will be better than Durand but will be vastly improved as a senior.
Wright Cooley and Mack would do damage with this team in a year or two. Question is can out staff also get there next season.
15 wins and I am happy 16 or more and we have greatly overachieved

1.So Paul did you offer your # Ws?
2.Good range 15-16 RMN.
3.Certainly a " fun" year ahead! Getting to know the players + see how they mesh!

the best...

i am surprised that some of our normally more pessimistic guys are predicting tripling last year's wins. I agree with north and others that 15 would be impressive but I would not be happy per se. I'd understand it and logically agree with it but I am never going to be happy with a season with double digit losses and anything less than a NCAA Tourney. So yeah 15 is a reasonably high expectation but I'd like to see something more and talent wise at least it is possible. Minimizing turnovers will be the key for the season. Not something that you normally associate with a young, inexperienced team led by two Frosh point guards.

I predicted 15 a while ago before the schedule came out. Since then there is nothing that has changed my mind.

Tripling last years's win total? I take it math was not your best subject. ;) :) 8x3=24 Don't see many predictions for that high of a win total.

More than double, rounded up = Triple :silly:

I think Paul was subconsciously thinking and predicting our Big East wins. ;) In that case, I think we will win 7 times as many games as last year! :p

That's where shooting comes in, if the defender is playing off him then just shoot it all day and make the defender come up, that's when he goes past them, if he still can't then backup and shoot it or just pass it.
Got 4 other options that can score out there.

Ponds, Ahmed, Sima, and the other kid that was our best last year, yeah I'll admit I'm drawing a blank on his name.

We didn't have a best player last year! It was a train wreck! ;) Yakwe may have been our best athlete and rebounding shot blocker but struggled to produce offensively because of undeveloped mechanics. Saw him recently and I didn't see much of a change. Has none of the offensive tools Bashir Ahmed possesses nor the ball handling. With time working with Mullin and Richmond he should develop nicely. At present he is a drive to the basket player. The best shooter may be Freudenberg who, at 6'9, shoots over most of our guys right now. When this kid developes some muscle watch out!
