#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

I remember that game well, but was not there.
I was good friends with Dennis Myron at the time, the fiormer St. John’s ticket manager and my buddies and I were able to get some great seats.

It was one of those games where the Johnnies rose to the occasion and won. That happened a lot back then, hopefully those days have returned, starting tonite.😎👍

Yea there may be a lot of tickets "out", but a lot were given away to knicks and rangers STHs and schools. Not sure how many of those people are actually going to show up
Definitely. There's still over 100 tickets available in lower bowl alone, and plenty in 200s. I do think the lack of resale tix for $5 makes me hopeful a decent amount show up. But if the16k number is even vaguely close to ppl attending, I would be a very pleasantly surprised

As has been pointed out, Marquette fans are not flying in on a Tuesday for this. Not many local alumni. 16k St. John’s fans will do just fine.

Let’s win the damn game and not worry about attendance. UConn will be sold out, if that makes you feel better.
12k will be just fine too. I'm just curious! Not particularly concerned.

Count Marillac in the attendance watchers. No better sign for the health of a program and no better arena in college basketball than a filled MSG.

The former president of my HOA here in Raleigh is a big Duke fan. He's also a big time supporter of the Duke basketball team which earned him guaranteed tickets each year at Cameron. Most times when I bump into him and we talk St. John's/Duke basketball, he always mentions the game Bootsy Thornton had against Duke in1999. Although #2 Duke beat #8 St. John's in OT at MSG, Bootsy scored 40 points on 14 out of 24 from the field including 7 for 11 from 3 point range. He also had 12 rebounds. So according to at least one big time Duke supporter, Bootsy Thornton is legendary.

I was at that MSG game, Bootsy was amazing.

Speaking of big wins against ranked teams, my all time favorite game I attended was the Hall of Fame game in 1982 as St. John's defeated Michael Jordan and North Carolina, 78-74, in overtime in the Tip-Off Classic in Springfield, Mass. Chris Mullin and Kevin Williams were named Co-MVPs.

Carolina was up 4 with a minute to go and Dean Smith went into his heralded 4 corner offense. With some heroics by Kevin Williams, the Johnnie’s tied it and won it in OT.

Were any of you posters there as well??
I got to watch that game on t.v., it was great.

There is absolutely no reason why SJU can't win the Dance this year. I am well aware of the flaws which are dissected over hundreds of pages here every day. Poor shooting games can turn into rock fights. They have as good a chance as anyone out there, I really believe that. The most improbable teams routinely advance deep in the modern era, and this year's SJU team would not even be considered "improbable." No team wishes to play a Pitino team in any round of the tournament. The in effect 6 man rotation in '99 steamrolled everyone until running into the long arms of Ken Johnson in a game I was at and could have gone either way. Bring it.
In that Ohio State Ken Johnson game, "We wuz robbed", foul should have been called. Damn Scoonie Pen..

I heard that on Zach B's Spaces forum last night, so the Garden offers free St. J tix to Knick and Ranger season ticket holders, I never heard of that before.
