Actually thought Lavin got under his skin worse. They battled for a number of recruits, and Lavs won out a few times. Of course Cooley go the ultimate last laugh on the basketball court, but when Lavs when back into announcing, I used to chuckle at Cooley being buddy-buddy with him. Certainly didn't seem that way when Sampson and Sanchez came here.

Seems so strange to end it like this when it was his dream job and all that. Wonder if something went very sour behind the scenes between Cooley and the school. Cause the whole thing seems so odd
 
Was anyone on the Twitter spaces going on now hear the guy mention 2 acc commits who could be decommiting any insight of that or wishful thinking of Ian jackson

It was probably easier for Cooley let those recruiting battles go when he was beating Lavs head to head in literally every huge game.

That one year where we needed like one more win to make the tournament; and lost to providence in BET still hurts me to this day

I was sitting near the bench when Obekpa refused to enter the game (despite TC pleading with him), witnessed that ridiculous comeback, only to have Sampson's layup fall off the rim right after D-Lo canned a transition 3. Sampson's layup would have given us the lead as I recall.

He did. But Lavin was better than Cooley.

When Cooley lost out on Ponds that killed him.

I don’t like it either. Cooley was a “Providence guy”, and Providence did right by him and his staff. Then he jumps intra-conference and will likely bring the recruits to their rival. If he wasn’t from Providence I’d be fine with it, but he’s going to go from local hero to public enemy number one there.

I never liked Cooley and not to be mean that face on the back of his head always freaked me out. But thought he was great as Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
