Transfer Portal

I think that we all agree with that position.
There are two areas that Posh will have to work on for next season:
1. Decision-making. He had 88 turnovers this season.
2. Shot selection. He's a career .25 shooter from "3".
His 2 point fg % looks good but most are from drives.
Hence, be the playmaker.....period.
I could be totally wrong and maybe it's because Posh was playing off ball so much but he seemed a little slower this year. I'm totally not saying he wasn't in shape because the one thing to definitely give CMA credit for is his kids were always in shape just Posh seemed a little slower to me I think Pitino has him lose a little bit of muscle and pick speed back up

Nobody is "rooting" for Posh to leave! Stop with the dramatics.
The issue is do you want Posh the freshman or Posh the junior. If he stays and exhibits the same flaws and comes off the bench what others are saying is that would be what's best for the team.

I find it quite hypocritical of some to be pining for more of the same in our backcourt which was one of the most dysfunctional in the conference.
It seems like only last month that some here were describing our players as having low basketball I.Q.
Nowhere was it more evident than in our our backcourt play. I'm not saying players can't improve on decision-making but Curbelo, Posh and Wusu were capable of some pretty bone headed plays. Jones was not too far behind.

I hope they all improve radically but it's not a given.
Therefore, let's hope we can entice some higher level I.Q. guys who can shoot and play defense........something this current team did not do well.
If you think the current top six players will be radically improved under Pitino you are in for disappointment.
You make some fair points. I do believe if you surround Posh with a better overall cast and reel him in a bit then he can be quite valuable.

I didn't get to any games this year so didn't see him live, but on TV Posh definitely looked heavier than before. I think it definitely had an impact

I didn't get to watch as many games as possible but two things with Posh seemed to stand out a bit to me. 1. Julian left and a lot of attention that was spent containing Julian got spread out to the players. 2. Although Posh played a lot of minutes, the rotation, especially for the first 2/3 of the season seemed in constant flux. Add to this the fact that a lot of the time there was a lack of any really offensive design, making it more playground ball. Add to that the ball being in Curbelo's hand quite a bit, which reduced Posh's opportunities to attack or make the decisions.
I don't know where RP will make adjustments, but I agree with the idea of him working to up speed and protecting the ball. I think having an actual offensive system will help with the turnovers, however, if Curbelo handles the ball as much as last year, you won't see a Fr/So Posh return offensive stats. He needs more touches to see those kinds of numbers.

I will be happy with a defensive firecracker with the same offensive numbers and fewer TO.

So it was a long time ago but when Pitino took over at Providence, he took a subpar holdover in Billy Donovan and turned him into an all-BE player.

There's a lot more to work with here at SJU.
And, Billy torched us on more than one occasion.... :(

I'd like to see roster stability this offseason but I think we have to recognize a few things: 1) a 'new' coach has total call on making roster changes, 2) major college hoops no longer operates even under the illusion of having amateur players, and 3) last year was so damn disappointing between results and expectations the 'blame' for it defies analysis--players / HC / players out-of-sync with in-game strategy (if there was any), or me-first players?
I don't know, but I do know Rick Pitino will have a plan and will find the players to execute it, and that's why he IS the right HC for us at this time.

Transfer Portal is going to be on fire with Coach Pitino at the helm. I wonder if some recruits open back up their recruitment and add SJU to their list?

I imagine most players have signed NILs by now so that might be tough except at schools with coaching changes where they might grant a release. Was perusing 247 and the only top 100 player still available is Bronny. I wouldn't want that circus in my town, just saying. Texas has a couple guys in the top 20 but remains to be seen if Beard leaving will have any impact. Terry was probably part of their consideration process and I think he'll keep the job. Probably gonna be all about the portal and improving what's already on the roster in year 1.

Year 2. Hubert gets fired and he gets Ian Jackson and Cadeau. ;)
