Transfer Portal

I beg to differ on your main point, we didn't know whether we had a BAD TEAM because the coaching was so abysmal!
Posh, Stanley, Soriano, Wusu, Storr and Jones are the only players I don't want to lose. King would be nice to keep but he may be recruited over.
There will be plenty of spots to fill.
Anderson did his best with this group but obviously there were plenty of defects in both the lineups (which makes for a BAD team) and coaching decisions.

So you just named our top 6 players. Then we have 2 very good recruits in Gardner and the Juco, which is 8, I like king as a backup and have no problem with the 7 1 redshirt freshman. If any coach can improve him Pitino is the guy and he is worth the risk and I have zero problem with Traoré as our end of the bench player. I hope they all stay and Pitino has only 2 spots to fill. Again I liked our lineup.

If it's Pitino, I'm really going to be interested in seeing if he can get a lot out of Pinzon. Always thought he had good upside with the right coach, and of couse, if he could stay healthy.

I didn't address the recruits because they can do as they wish as they are prep kids.
I think we differ on who our starting 5 players will be and I still think that Soriano is the only clear cut starter based on this year's performance.
You seem to imply that our current top 6 players will be our top six next year and as far as I'm concerned that would not upgrade the roster to Big East top 5 status.
Pitino will bring in 2 or 3 players capable of starting that will transform the team into HIS team.

Elevate your expectations. We’re not shopping for sales anymore…
But you don’t want to shop just for the sake of shopping either.

Continuity is important, especially when you have a hungry group of upper classmen.

With improved coaching, this roster is already good enough to make the NCAA tournament.

They will use the transfer portal very selectively if the right player is available and fits what Pitino wants.

I think Pitino + Repole-infused NIL could be enough to sway some really talented kids trapped behind other talented kids and/or talented native tri-staters to think long and hard about portaling. It wouldn't take long at all to get this thing rolling with just a handful of portal intrigue.

Give Boogie Fland a blank check (I say this very half heartedly)

Pitino isn't coming here to prove that he can win with a team that finished 3 from the bottom of the conference. He will do what it takes to improve the roster, especially finding reliable 3 point shooters. He will hit the portal hard, and then work on finding 4 star high school talent.

Pitino isn’t coming to make the tournament. He’s coming to win the tournament. While I would love to see Pitino coach the current squad for a season, the reality is that they were extremely flawed shooting the ball, closing out games and discipline wise.

23 years and counting…

You will be disappointed when there isn’t a roster overhaul. I also do not think Pitino will simply discard the local kids either.

I want Soriano to stay and if he can reign in Russ, he could Curbelo.
I like Storr, and those incoming recruits look good.
Gotta get that Clayton kid from Iona.

Anyone else? I'm good with Rick calling the shots on them, he knows what he's doing.

I think the portal talent will find Rick. My guess is that there will be no shortage of talented kids lining up to play for Rick Pitino in the Big East, in NYC and at MSG. They're probably lining up right now in anticipation.

I would be disappointed if two impact transfers aren't added because every player we had except Soriano underperformed this season.
Now, after the Curbelo hijinks, Pinzon insulting his coach, Posh failing to make even even an honorable mention Big East player and having been mediocre, Wusu being a warrior but often a bull in a China shop, you worry about the local kids?
If you want a tournament caliber team next year, you better hope there is a roster upgrade in the top 7 rotation players.
If that means bye to Pinzon and Curbelo so be it.
If it means Posh comes off the bench and Wusu is a 6th man, then I'm on board.
If they are not on board and will hurt team chemistry then I think even further changes would be made.
It's nice to have players with experience and another to have players with bad experience.
Let's have the new coaching staff figure it out.

Correct. There will be major chanes to the roster w/ Pitino. He is going to bring in kids who can shoot the lights out. Players like Posh will be coming off the bench or transfering.

I don’t think Posh will transfer or come off the bench next year if Pitino is coach. How many better pg transfer options will there be? Even if there were a couple, no certainty we would get them (even with Pitino). Some of you posters are out of your minds. Posh would be one of the top transfers on the market if he leaves.

Agree with every word you wrote.
Some posters are just delusional and there is no point in trying to get them to see the light.
I will just wait and see and hopefully we will have the last laugh. Do they understand that not 1 player has entered the transfer portal, to me that speaks volumes.

Yes, teams would be lining up for a pg who cant shoot. This fanbase blindspot for posh is crazy. I get it though.

Some players might leave. Then Pitino can work the transfer portal. He has gravitas that Anderson just didn’t. So if all goes well he has the team in the tournament next year.
