If no one leaves our team is set as is. I don’t see that being the case
Anderson had 0 gravitasSome players might leave. Then Pitino can work the transfer portal. He has gravitas that Anderson just didn’t. So if all goes well he has the team in the tournament next ye
Pitino will decide who he wants back and I'll respect his decision(s) given the track record. But I'll never understand how any real St. John's fan could not be rooting for Posh to come back and have a big senior year. About the most loyal and hard working NYC kid you could ever ask for. And just to remind all those with very short memories, he had 2 very good years which is why he was coaches pre-season all Big East team pick.Agree with every word you wrote.
Some posters are just delusional and there is no point in trying to get them to see the light.
I will just wait and see and hopefully we will have the last laugh. Do they understand that not 1 player has entered the transfer portal, to me that speaks volumes.
I dont disagree with anything before my ADHD kicked in but we are getting a legit coach so how would he do before I got distracted with what you said with a bird hitting my windowYou never want a kid to transfer when they are your players! The entire lineup next year is really the coach's decision just as Anderson shuffled his starting 5 this entire year with only Soriano being the constant.
Posh sat some games. Some games he played the SG.
Other times he played the point. Same with Curbelo.
Jones never started again in the crunch of the schedule.
Omar started eventually but then would ride the pines due to fouls. There was no consistent top 6 players.
The consensus was we have a BAD TEAM by most of you here!
Now, you all want to play the loyal alums supporting the kids.
Yes, if Pitino is the coach we "may" have better results.
If the schedule is as weak as this year we likely could be in the top half W/L-wise. But this group was never going to make post-season noise and most of you couldn't wait for the season to be over.
If you think that by just adding Pitino will make Posh a better and smarter player, I beg to differ. Adding bigger bodies that can shoot is going to be the key to improving the offense.
Defense is instilled in practices and requires a disciplined approach. Offense requires smart players in the backcourt with quick movement and passing. We continually overdribbled the ball.
Watch Princeton for the disciplined approach.
It would be great if our players could all make a big improvement next year but we know that some are what they are and a new coach may just bury those players deeper on the bench. It's best if some move on for their own good.
Yes, you hate players to transfer but you will covet a half dozen of the hundreds in the portal in a couple of weeks.
Was that the same bird that was in Star Trek Beyond or was it Star Trek the Next Generation?I dont disagree with anything before my ADHD kicked in but we are getting a legit coach so how would he do before I got distracted with what you said with a bird hitting my window
not sure but it was teredactal bigWas that the same bird that was in Star Trek Beyond or was it Star Trek the Next Generation?
I partied with those dudes man.not sure but it was teredactal big
Nobody is "rooting" for Posh to leave! Stop with the dramatics.Pitino will decide who he wants back and I'll respect his decision(s) given the track record. Absolutely agree.Ultimately whoever Pitino lands on will be more than fine by me, because the man is a basketball genius.
All things being equal, I’ve seen enough of Curbello to last a lifetime.
I love Posh. I think the kid we saw this year isn’t anywhere near the best version of Posh. He was screwed with, played out of position, lost confidence, etc. I think the Posh we saw the first two years is much closer to the real thing. You surround that version with other shooters/playmakers and a big who can finish, and I’m all in on that kid. And I think Wusu can be a valuable contributor off the bench on a good team.
Just to be clear rooting for (and frankly expecting) Posh to have a senior year more like his freshman and sophomore years is not the same as "pining for more of the same in our backcourt". Actually just the opposite.Nobody is "rooting" for Posh to leave! Stop with the dramatics.
The issue is do you want Posh the freshman or Posh the junior. If he stays and exhibits the same flaws and comes off the bench what others are saying is that would be what's best for the team.
I find it quite hypocritical of some to be pining for more of the same in our backcourt which was one of the most dysfunctional in the conference.
It seems like only last month that some here were describing our players as having low basketball I.Q.
Nowhere was it more evident than in our our backcourt play. I'm not saying players can't improve on decision-making but Curbelo, Posh and Wusu were capable of some pretty bone headed plays. Jones was not too far behind.
I hope they all improve radically but it's not a given.
Therefore, let's hope we can entice some higher level I.Q. guys who can shoot and play defense........something this current team did not do well.
If you think the current top six players will be radically improved under Pitino you are in for disappointment.
I agree with a lot of what you’ve said but I don’t think we need “radical” improvement. We’ve already seen some of it before with guys like Posh. Would also be pretty sensical to expect noticeable improvement from a guy like Storr, an all BE freshmen entering his soph year, regardless of who the coach is. Wusu & Stanley have both improved each year in different areas the way players generally do over 4 years.Nobody is "rooting" for Posh to leave! Stop with the dramatics.

Very good point. With not one player entering the portal, probably not wrong to assume that all are open to staying. At his point, by my count, we have 14 players for 13 scholarships. You will be disappointed when there isn’t a roster overhaul. I also do not think Pitino will simply discard the local kids either.
We are better off with more leaving than staying. I trust Rick's transfers more than what we have now, though to be fair with Anderson being gone who knows how good these kids can really be.Pitino can coach some of these guys up.
Bryce Hopkins should be the templateI think Pitino + Repole-infused NIL could be enough to sway some really talented kids trapped behind other talented kids and/or talented native tri-staters to think long and hard about portaling. It wouldn't take long at all to get this thing rolling with just a handful of portal intrigue.
I still have some hope for Curbelo. Maybe it's misguided. But he handled coming of f the bench well and maybe he needs a more respected coach to rein him in. Maybe.Absolutely agree.
Sounds like a mean thing to say. But need to upgrade the talent level. Especially need shooters. Will be interesting to see how things pan out.We are better off with more leaving than staying.
