(EXHIBITION) Michigan (MSG), Sat., Oct. 25, 7p, Big Ten+

I may be wrong but let me apply my new found knowledge. I'd say Lawman's +/- is zero because he wasn't in the game when the other team's shooter got fouled and he missed his buzzer beater.
And there you see a major flaw. Lawman wasn’t on the floor when the foul occurred which sent the shooter to the line, but he was technically in the game for the points being scored. And this is coming from someone who thinks it’s still a valuable stat. Just more so over larger time.

Jackson’s floor is a really good 2 that can shoulder some lead guard responsibilities. He can shoot and — I may be alone on this part — drive well. What he will do for others…that part is unclear to me.

Sanon is an enigma to me so far. I think he has to be the go to in big spots by January.

I saw enough good from Darling where I am not scared about PG. Let’s just get some shooters in the corners when he’s in there. Plus, I think we can just give Sanon a high ball screen and let him pull up from 3 if we are stuck. He’s going to get it off at will and we have the rebounders if he misses.

Sanon shot and just go after it with Mitchell, Zuby, and Hopkins doesn’t seem like a bad plan.

Thought Jackson had a really nice drive and finish in the first half.

I can’t help but think his first and only thought each time he looks at the basket is to get into his sidestep-step back shot. It almost looks like there’s times he needs to gather this way before he can make a pass.

Lawmanfan should be charged the minus 3 because it was actually he who tripped the opponent while sitting on the bench and the refs didn’t see it. 🤪

Jackson will be fine and Marillac doesn’t like being the voice of reason.

Seeing him in mock drafts last season may have clouded our expectations a bit. Having him there was ridiculous anyway.

We already know his floor -- 12 ppg in a major conference. Even normal progression as a sophomore means good numbers.

He just needs to do all the other stuff Pitino expects. Would also be awesome if he doesn't get pissy if he comes off the bench, and maybe even realizes a junior year under Pitino would be best thing for him.

Ok (very) late to the party because I’ve been basically off-line since Friday. Watched a condensed 28min of the game and had no idea who won/how it ended so, yo, holy excitement Batman. I mean, just a couple of years ago we would have been dying to get this kind of atmosphere for a midseason BE game and now we’re getting it in a frickin preseason game?? Unreal.

I’ve gone through the thread so I won’t go repeating a lot of the obvious stuff already said. Zuby’s free throw shooting was on point. Hopefully, that stroke stays. Mitchell was a beast. Thought Prey looked fine too. I can’t really go off an edited 28min version of things. Glad to see Darling is hardly the donkey a lot of you foolishly thought he was after one stupid preseason game smh.

Yes it was a preseason game. Pitino was definitely playing around with things to tweak them for games that matter. And, yes, our press looked like a mess and I’m convinced he stuck with it awhile to drill it in these guys’ heads that they have to move quicker. The infamous lateral quickness phrase we all love. Another thing, what a unique lineup Michigan presents. They are BIG, and I reckon to guess, we wont be facing many teams that present the matchup issues they do. I fully expect this team to be stellar, and I do us.

Lastly, I hope Lefty plays a lot. That boy stepped up and made some huge threes when a) no one on this team could hit anything and b) the game looked over. I know another guy who missed two FTs last year at the end of a game that could have won it (and that game counted) and you could argue that moment was the turning point of his season/career and I see a very mature guy in Lefty and as Gene pointed out, he has a ton of International experience, never looks out of the moment, and has played with grown men. He’ll be fine and he’ll be a big reason why we’ll have success this year.

Was thinking along the same lines Saturday night… it might not be “pretty”… but a Dillon Mitchell drive (hopefully he improves at the line) / giving it to Bryce at the elbow… and those u mentioned above… really not bad options

We are not going to struggle offensively to find a bucket

He's had a lot of drives that I've seen since this summer. Based on the little I saw of him at UNC, I would not have thought it to be a strength at all. I do now, though. I think he can get there under control and draw contact and/or finish. He seems to be able to counter defenders a bit as well. Pitino teaches combo guards to approach an assist like they are getting their own basket. That is probably why he takes that posture right now. He's thinking and not reacting when it comes to initiating.

I don't think Sanon has that same body control once he gets outside of his pre-programmed moves. Sanon kind of reminds me of Glenn Taylor in that regard...he will need a dunk or to be fouled deep in the lane.

The #s are going to be there. The integration into a team with chemistry and giving + defense and rebounding is the concern. He appears to be lacking in awareness on defense at this stage. But it's so hard to predict what a kid who is still overthinking will do when he starts reacting and just playing. That jumps can be absolutely massive. Same deal with Jackson as I posted above. Jackson appears to be more aware of everything on defense.

We recruited a bunch of really good spot up shooters...Sanon is really the only guy that can shoot off the bounce.

Game is being shown on MSG network at 7:30 pm tonight. I saw the OT thanks to Paultzman's posting of the feed, but looking forward to seeing the entire game for myself after reading about it for the last 3 days.
Do me a favor and keep track of the number of times Michigan threw the ball away for an unforced error. It seemed like 10 to me. Easy to see that nobody is in midseason form at these scrimmages. Michigan is going to be a very difficult matchup once they get on the same page (and they will, Dusty May is a very good coach).
