New York Mets 2025 Season

Can we burn Suero this weekend and then sign Alexis Diaz, please? Diaz has three more option years after this one. Velo declined a bit from his all-star year, but I like the idea of Edwin's brother being in the org.
He’s got some weird stats. Pitched 15 times this season, 3 games he got annihilated (twice against Cards), 2 games he gave up a run and the other 10 were scoreless. Hell, he only has 7 walks in those 15 appearances which is great compared to most of our pitchers. I wonder if the Edwin connection matters to Stearns.

The dodgers waiving him has to be a signal he’s either very close to an arm injury and/or he’s shot. But Edwin’s got a opt out and Alexis has more options than most of these borderline guys

Pete really having a rough night. Two Ks, a ground out and a GIDP. Yikes. He’s left a village on base.
Glad to see a win. Watching the highlights it felt like this could have been a 10-4 victory if Pete had a better day (or Nimmo’s ball went 2 inches higher).

The reds are sub .500 and out of the picture. We need to focus on a solid month against a lot of good teams and get ready (fingers crossed) for the playoffs.

Now tied with Padres and only two games back of Dodgers. Of course, no matter what one of them wins the west but I would still like to see Mets move up.

Rather face Cubs/Brewers than Dodgers/Fillies. We’d beat Fillies but Dodgers?

Very sad. Among the first to use computer generated data analytics to managerial decisions. In '86, perfectly managed a well constructed team of veterans (Carter, Hernandez, Knight, Ojeda) and a bunch of younger kids (Gooden, Straw, Darking, El Sid, Orosco, Backman, Dykstra, etc) leading them to 108 wins.

He figured in the Mets 2 world championships, making the final out of the 69 series, a fly ball that was nestled in to Cleon Jones' glove. Coincidentally, the most iconic photos of both series were Jones kneeling as the ball settled gently into his glove, and Orosco hurling his glove towards the heavens as he got the final out.

R.I.P. to our most successful manager.

There was a time when I thought Davey could do no wrong and I was heartbroken when he was fired. I was a kid afterall and he was the only Mets manager I had really known.

RIP.
Yep, iirc they fired him in the middle of a road trip In Cincy and brought in Buddy. I was heartbroken even though the core of that team was crumbling. Hernandez and Carter were breaking down, Doc was on drugs, Darryl was hitting like .220, they clearly hated Jeffries but when Davey got fired it was like a punch in the face. RIP

Maybe I am a pessimist but I just want to win as many games as needed to get into the playoffs and hope they can figure out who to pitch to win a three game series on the road. It would be great to get the first wild card so I will go with that as a high end goal.

The downfall of that team was Frank Cashen and his handling of Lenny Dykstra and Kevin Mitchell. Both went on to win MVP’s elsewhere.

Irony was it was Cashen’s acumen that built that team. Keep in mind the 80’s had no wildcards like today. One of those teams under a similar today format almost certainly would have won a second championship. Alas, we will never know.
