New York Mets 2025 Season

His pitches sometimes move like a wiffle ball. And I think you are right that he is not always sure where it is going by that whipping leg action he has after releasing the ball.

It’s as if he is trying to guide it.
That’s the best description of his pitches I’ve heard yet. Absolutely wiffleball type movement.

Great comparison !

Helsley is up there with Mel Rojas for me. He is complete dogsh$t. Mendoza should be fired for going to him repeatedly. I bet you it’s the analytical people doing this. They should be put in a drum.

I got blasted earlier in the thread for saying Mendoza should be on thin ice.
I don’t think he should be on thin ice…yet.

If he keeps managing like a stubborn bastard and they’re out without advancing in the playoffs then I’d be looking at a change.

He’s just another product of the Yankee managerial system. All analytics and no gut. Randolph, Girardi, Boone and him now.

The Mets have had a problem with this type of game for years. This was a go for the throat game to sweep a good team. But no, the Manager wants to follow the template like a robot pre-programmed with a failing formula.

The Mets also passed up opportunity after opportunity to score. Bases loaded and the disinterested, diffident Starling Marte grounds meekly into a double play with the bases loaded. He went 0-4. I can see our Analytics crew working OT to come up with that move.

Obviously you don’t read the Yankees thread. 🤣
I don’t care about the Yankees, so I don’t go into the thread. I also don’t have any cute nicknames for the team. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t get how pointing out Mendoza, who, holy crap, came from the Yankees organization, is just like, wait a minute, the same organization as the coaches I mentioned it, and obviously coaches just like them, would bother someone.

So the Giants have passed the Reds, but we are closing in on the Padres, against whom we have 3 games at home. Then I checked their schedule - they also have 7 against the Rockies and 3 against the White Sox. Giants close out the season with 3 against the Rockies.

We do have the tiebreaker against the Giants. We lost two of three to the Reds so a sweep would give us the tie breaker. Not sure what happens if we end in a 3-3 tie.

I don’t think it matters if we are the second or third wild card. Either way we go on the road against a good team. There is no way we are going to win the division or get the first wild card so it’s about winning as many games as possible and hope the Giants or Reds don’t get too hot. The series against the Reds this weekend is huge in maintaining our current playoff odds.

aka, once Senga approves his demotion to AAA (which, literally is in his contract) and Manaea accepts a long-reliever role, he's up.

Still think Megill is the better option, but he's probably only giving you 4-5 innings. We have to start stacking these starters. Sproat might be able to surprise hitters for a start, but they are going to crush him once they get the data on him.
