New York Mets 2025 Season

Talking to some of my Philly friends and they were telling me wheeler had alluded to retiring earlier than expected even before this injury. Put this brutal injury in the mix, you start to wonder if that’s the last we’ve seen of wheeler on the mound

Brazoban back up.

Remember neither Sproat or Tong are on the 40 man Roster. So it would take something like releasing Stanek to add someone like that. Brazoban IS on the 40.

I don't think the 40 man roster is much of an issue. The Mets have plenty of older pitchers at the bottom. The bigger issue might be that they can only carry 14 pitchers when the roster expands 9/1 and they already have 13 with Brazoban being #13. Unless someone is DFA'ed, Mets have to choose between Hagenmen, Sproat, and Tong for that last spot.

Also Tyler Megill.

DFA’d aka “remove them from the 40 man roster” ? I don’t know my hair is on fire trying to understand roster limitations. 🤯

Funny Ron and Gary were just talking about the Mets are open to bringing up Tong. Didn’t say Sproat. Why just last week they were dead set against bringing up Tong. I think I’ll wait to see what happens.

DFA (designate for assignment) is how you immediately remove a veteran from the 40-man roster.
Watching Tong tonight...he's throwing basically 2 pitches (4-seamer and change up). I wonder if that is to see if can handle a bullpen stint in a week or two. He really loves that change up. If he pitches well next start, maybe bring him up and option Brazoban.

I don't love Sproat being up this season. Tong could pitch himself out of trouble better with his swing and miss stuff, and would be great to have him around playoff baseball since he has the higher ceiling.

Nothing like having a 3 run lead and giving up back to back walks. It’ll kill you sooner or later.

Two runs without a hit. Gift wrapped.
