New York Mets 2025 Season

Decided not to watch tonight

Do I see that Mullins and Senger are coming through

I don’t watch them enough but I trust you as long as you say Boone is an idiot like Delaware 😀

But while I don’t watch the yanks as much and actually don’t dislike them it’s just a pitching thing. Pitching if you can throw strikes it’s not hard unless you just lose a lot of velocity. Look at Senga. He was awesome. But look what happens after he got hurt now he’s not controlling the count: it absolutely could be because of injury but regardless win the count win the battle almost every time
For sure! Especially a pitcher like Senga who wants to get guys out with pitches out of the strike zone. To do that you have to get ahead in the count.
Tom Seaver said it all when asked what was his best pitch, his reply was “strike one”.

McLean magnificent again. 7 innings is just what the doctor ordered.

Next year could be fun with McLean, Scott, Sproat, and Tong filling out the back end of the rotation. Call up Tong when Megill gets his annual May injury 😀

Megill with 5 scoreless innings tonight in Syracuse. Have to imagine he will be inserted into the rotation next time through. Hagenman piggy-backed off him and threw 3 scoreless with 6 strikeouts. Clifford hit two homers -- the kid will have himself a 30+ homer season.

Need to bring up Sproat and Tong. McLean has been electric let the Young Guns pitch.

Unfortunately, Sproat is not like McLean. His ball doesn't move, so he will have to get it done differently. That probably means pitching to weak contact when he first gets up and just mixing up his speeds and locations. It's going to make it harder to pitch out of trouble. If he is limited to 1-3 innings against mostly righties, he can probably throw it hard enough to be decent. Maybe the pitching staff can tweak some stuff for him.

Tong might have a better chance out of the bullpen even with much less experience. I'd still like to get him 2-3 more starts in AAA and see how that goes.

But the reality is no one thought it was anything but a home run when it happened. Unfortunately, a different team and a completely different role has led to a completely different pitcher.
No one could have predicted how poorly he is pitching.

He wasn’t pitching as well for St. Louis this season as he had the last three years but you are right the expectation was that we were getting a closer level set up man. Just hasn’t worked out that way.

Wheel out for the year. He has been diagnosed with venous thoracic outlet syndrome and will undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery.
