But sensing there are parallels to the CMA hire - a franchise butchering a coaching search and a coach who has a decent resume, but no one considered until someone said, "Oh that guy doesn't have a job" which is never a good thing.

The FO interviewed him during their first search and was apparently a top three candidate. So I don’t think the CMA parallels are really there. Finals experience and overachieved at a dysfunctional Kings org for two years, including winning a NBA COY.

Fair to question if he’s an X’s and O’s upgrade to Thibs, but also think the locker room needed a change

In Browns defense he is a two time NBA coach of the year, not sure in the same league as CMA. Not a huge fan of the Brown hire and would have preferred Borrego but CMA he is not.

I have not been a fan of this coaching search whatsoever, the names mentioned have not sounded appealing at all.

With that said, I like Mike Brown. The Sacramento Kings are a laughably incoherent franchise, that makes wrong decisions at nearly every single turn. They parted ways with Mike Brown, who was overall a winning coach there, despite some iffy roster construction going on from the front office. Mike Brown also was one of the key guys on the staff for the peak years of the Golden State run. I like having a guy like that as the head voice in a locker room.

And call me a homer, sure, but my honest assessment on next year. I think we are going to the NBA Finals. I expect to make the NBA Finals. Don't get me wrong, I also expect to see OKC there, who will beat us in 5 games, but I do expect the Knicks to at least be there.

If there was ever a year to expect this iteration of the knicks to make the finals, it is THIS year. Take Boston and Indiana off the board. The Cavaliers and Knicks have to be looking at each other like "okay one of us has to win it now, right?"

I just like the bench pieces we acquired the last couple days. I think if we stay healthy, we will make the finals. I respect the Cavs, Magic, Bucks... all solid teams. I just think we have a bit more than them to get over the hump.

And if the locker room needed a change it was because the front office chose to change the chemistry by bringing in Bridges and Towns, not because of Thibodeau.
Two guys who couldn’t look in a mirror but rather bad mouthed a successful coach and got their whiny way from that same front office.

I think Dolan wanted to get rid of Thibs to begin with (apparently decades of dumb decisions have not persuaded him that he should let other people make the decisions) and whatever Bridges (I suspect it was Bridges) said was the excuse he was looking for.

It will be ironic when next year's coach has a bench of Yabusele, Clarkson, McBride, either Hart, Bridges or Robinson, and second-year Kolek, Dadiet and Huckporti and people say "see, Thibs should have played his bench more!"

Maybe if Thibs had that bench he would have.

I do agree that the Knicks offense was stagnant and did not involve enough players. However I question whether that is due to Thibs or because your point guard holds the ball for 6 seconds, gives it up, gets it back, and keeps it for another 6 seconds. Possibly a new offensive approach will change that, but then again possibly it won't. It will be interesting to see what happens on that front. But as long as you are going to run a Brunson-centric offense, there will be limited touches for most other players as opposed to a ball-movement offense.
