New York Mets 2025 Season

Would rather hold onto our top arms if we aren’t getting a controllable arm in return.

I’m very happy with Taylor playing every day. We are elite (or really close to it) up the middle with him, Lindor, and Acuna.
The amazing thing is that Tidwell is the 15th best prospect/5th best pitcher for the Mets according to MLB. That's also not including Christian Scott.

Robert's a Gold Glover and was a MVP caliber hitter two years ago. Leads league in stolen bases and still playing strong CF defense. Still just 27 and under team control for two more years at below market value (20m).

I find it very tempting. If he gets back to even 80% of what he was, our lineup would be so deep. Probably the best in baseball?

Guy is hitting below the Mendoza line and barely hit the year before. He was an MVP candidate a couple of years ago but he ain't that guy any more. He is Jose Siri.

The prospect rankings are pretty brutal to our pitchers once they hit Syracuse. If you struggle at AAA at all you get rocked. Scott is the rare pitcher that cruised through there and he only pitched 9 games. I don't feel confident any of our pitchers -- even Scott -- projects to be a frontend starter. That's why I'd like to hold on to all of them and hope a few emerge.

I do like the upside of Robert. I don't understand what happened to him...he seemed to be on a J-Rod type of trajectory.

For the first time in my life, I am most confident in our organization to maximize whatever potential there is from the young guys. Sproat, McLean and Tong are all on pretty exciting trajectories. I'm also equally confident Stearns can find one in free agency out of nowhere (e.g. making a reliever into an ace, a reclamation project, etc.).

If they're comfortable trading Tidwell, then I trust that they think his upside isn't that high. Robert is definitely a luxury item so we shouldn't force it.

I agree. The Canning thing is bordering on witchcraft.

I am just not sure on Robert. He strikes out a ton and his .Obp ain’t great and basically has one big season. Of course, I’m not sitting around watching White Sox games.

I also have come to appreciate Tyrone Taylor. Guy is a very good defender and overall just a ball player. He’s not perfect but the more you watch him the more you like.

Unless the Pope is going to bless him I don’t want him. Hes like Mullins Revenge. Had 1 good year as Duke of Earlington then spiraled down hill

Matt Allen promoted to Brooklyn. I think they will be very aggressive with moving him up if he performs well.

I would imagine they see him as a 2 inning reliever to get him the bigs as soon as possible. He’s already rule 5 eligible. What a story that would be.

Allen will be treated very differently and there is only so far they can aggressively push him. The guy has not pitched in four years. He is on a pitch and innings.

No idea how the Mets can truly see if Allen is worth keeping.

Vientos is a butcher at third base. Instead of bringing a glove to the field he should bring a meat clever and wear a smock.
The ball literally went “through” his glove. The glove didn’t “break” the ball literally passed through a space in the webbing that was too big. Maybe Mark should stop worrying about the cool aqua coloring and more about a functional piece of equipment. Funny thing was he continued using it in the game. Mendoza mentioned/asked about it in the post game presser and said something like it happened.

It’s an interesting situation, because he probably learned a ton mentally being around the professional game for 6 years. He would likely have been at AA after the Covid season had he not been injured.

Mets will at least need to see him in AA to make any kind of informed decision on protecting him in the Rule 5 draft this December. If he looks even halfway decent, someone will claim him and use him as a reliever in 2026.

Good thing we don’t need Brandon Sproat anytime soon. He had yet another rough outing in Syracuse this afternoon. 6 ER, 4 hits, 3 walks and only 4Ks. Worst of all he gave up 3 HRs. Given they are losing 16-8 no one is pitching particularly well today. In a way it’s good Sproat will need to earn a trip to the Big Leagues. Right now… no chance to rush him.
