(NCAA-WEST/Providence) #10 Arkansas, Sat., Mar. 22, 2:40p, CBS

Disappointed to see the season come to an end, but an absolute fantastic season by the coaches and players. Do I wish it would've lasted a little bit longer? Of course. But these guys should hold their heads up high after winning the Big East, BET and ending the NCAA Tournament winless streak.

I'm confident the program will continue to build on this year.

It was an amazing season made more special because I got to experience it by going to every MSG game with my 13 year-old son. I have been waiting since 2000 for a St. John's team this good. I am so grateful it happened again.

Going into this game, Kenpom had us at 72% to win. 28% things happen all the time. The negativity and nastiness by some people here over a 28% chance thing happening is shocking to me. Mathematically illiterate morons.
My favorite part of this was reconnecting with people I went to school with from 1997 through 2001 as the season got deeper even if they are people you're friends with on social media but don't interact with that often. That really great you were able to see every game at MSG with your son.

No reason for the personal attack just because there are members who disagree with you.
Stop with the morality lesson. And I have had more people disagree with me here than the other way around. But I never cared because those same people took the hits and never hid.

Do not know what else to say if you think you fit that description. Guilty conscience maybe?

We played poorly today, absolutely. It’s a tough loss.

But it is so wild to me that after all our years of struggles, some of you get a little taste of having a great season, we grab a 2 seed, and are now somehow losing to arkansas is this unfathomable thing.

the best team we beat all year was a 7 seed in the dance. Going up against a battle tested SEC team was always going to be a challenge. They had talent, athleticism and guys getting healthy.

I am super bummed about the L. But pushing a narrative like we just lost some 16 seed or something is nuts

This is a great point. Awesome season but it’s not like we beat another top 20 team.

Look, I understand we played extremely poorly today and lost a game that was there for the taking. For those of us who have been rooting for this team for literally decades (46yrs for me) and who have been through the lean years, we understand that this has been a season that will be remembered and talked about for years to come. This team gave us all what we have been hoping for the last 25yrs. Big East regular season champs , Big East Tournament Champions, won an NCAA Tournament game. Thank God we have Coach Pitino here. If people on here want question his coaching today that’s fair game but we are nowhere without him. I trust Coach Pitino and I trust his process. The guy knows what he’s doing. I am 1000% confident that we will have a ranked team every season he is here from this season on.

Before today, we won 26 of the last 28 games and not a peep.
It's probably the most emotional (emotionally challenged?) day for an SJU basketball fan in decades - I've been a fan since my 6th grade basketball coach gave us the choice of two posters, Mullin or Ewing. This was a dream of a season, but a really hard way to end such a great run. Seems everyone is processing it a bit differently. I've been semi-active for many years but with 2 teenagers and running a business I don't quite have the time or energy to contribute like some others, but I truly appreciate the insight and banter that gets posted. I think cooler heads will prevail on this board and on the team as well. Already looking forward to next year!

What the hell are you talking about? I don't have a guilty conscience. About what exactly? Just because we disagree you're getting personal. And don't tell me to stop voicing my opinion about today's game. Do you think I'm hiding from the hits? I've been responding to all of your comments for the last hour. I'm here. I'm not hiding. Again, stop with the generalities. Be specific. How exactly am I voicing a morality lesson? All I've been saying is that the team played like crap today against Arkansas.

I don’t want to get into finger pointing, as I know we gotta own this loss. It’s our teams loss and no one else’s

But the big east was weak as hell this year. It’s not the conferences fault, but it is what it is

We lost to the two power conference tournament teams we played in non conference in Baylor and Georgia.

I had dreams of a deep March run. But I knew as soon as I saw the draw last Sunday that this second game was gonna be tough as hell.

As sad as I am today, I’m encouraged. We can be a better team. We can get more shooting. We can learn from what didn’t work today. We can schedule differently to better prepare us for postseason, in case the big east is lackluster (I hope it won’t be).

We will be back

💯

Just noticed that if UConn loses to Florida tomorrow then no BE team will get to the Seeet Sixteen. Had that ever happened before in the tourney? I know we had a great year and I'm thrilled about that, but werr we that good or was the conference down this year compared to previous years...opinions?
