(BET) Creighton, Sat., Mar. 15, 6:30p, FOX

Ashworth isn't that guy. Never was. This board would be apoplectic if we had a leading guard shoot below 40% from the field with 3.5 turnovers per game.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but I was pretty impressed when Smith took a hard shot trying to get around a screen that looked pretty bad, then played through it.

Also Scott saying there was no way he's missing any games with his thumb.

I love that these players realize there is something really special going on here and they want to be a part of it. They're all so easy to root for.

I need ESPKEN for this, but in terms of teams without undefeated seasons, how many teams had only 1 possession losses for an entire season?
Beast, the answer is zero!
The closest was the 1928-29 Buck Freeman team that lost only 2 games. By 2 points to Providence and by 3 to Fordham. Of course there was no three point shot back then. Which takes them out of the running.

BTW espken flew in from Texas yesterday landed at like 430pm and got to the game ( won't even talk about the sick seats he got ) then flying back to Texas today.

What a trip !

Completely disagree. It's one thing to make a mistake on a common foul, but it's a whole other thing to call an unwarranted technical. The officials are "big boys" themselves and should have the brain capacity to exercise judgment and discretion, especially in a championship game. I'm glad the call didn't have an impact on the game, but it should have never been made.

I agree with you 100 percent . The T wasn’t a bang , bang play call like a block or charge .

It happened after a made 3 point shot from RJ . The 3 finger salute is common place in today’s game . Breeding should know that …

RJ was back pedaling down Court after the shot , when he flashed the sign . Why was Breeding watching him , instead of the Blue Jays trying to inbound the ball?

Of course , Refs , Umpires , etc are human but , they are trained to call fouls , out of bounds , rules of BB , not Celebratory signals .

It was not a taunting gesture , any more than Ashworth doing his Quiet the Crowd gesture or , deliberately shoving Smith to the floor violently ?

No , Breeding has to bear heat for that poor judgment at a critical time in the game .

Greatest feeling ever being at that game. Can’t thank my cousins enough for the opportunity. Because of me, they are die hard St. John’s fans and have been through hell. Being with them as we cut down the nets at MSG was priceless!

The ‘Let’s Go Johnnies’ chant during our 2nd half run still gives me chills. It was deafening and Creighton never recovered. Spike Lee was rocking the Red vintage SJU starter jacket. As he was just a few feet away from me, I was so tempted to tell him to take that jacket off. 😀

For a top tier conference like the Big East the referee pool we use is PATHETIC. The fact Breeding was in the championship game show how lousy refs are. This is on Ackerman. She needs to go. And why isn't she out there screaming for Xavier to be in the field.

A backhanded congratulations if there ever was one. Remember that for the last 25 years no one gave a crap that the game “was in our backyard”.
Absolutely agree. SJU spent the large majority of the last generation destroying the basketball program through arrogance, incompetence, and negligence.

And no one cared.

All BE teams loved playing the tournament at the Garden. They used it as a recruiting tool. Their fans loved coming and selling out the place.

Now just shut up and put your big boy pants on. SJU is here to stay. The program is not going back. Deal with it, or go find another basketball only conference that is as dynamic as the BE.

Good luck.

We are certain that we will see you all next year.

Based on the 2nd half of that game we would have won if the game was played in Iceland. Shooting over 70% is a winning formula.
