AP BE Awards
POTY: RJ Luis Jr., St. John’s
COTY: Rick Pitino, St. John’s
The key is that he’s turned around program after program in their second year consistently, where most coaches need three to four years. He has to be best coach ever because look how many teams he turned around
What he's done is more impressive with the Red Storm than Moses parting the Red Sea

Just asking: Is Rick Pitino the best coach in the history of college basketball?
Pitino is rarely, if ever, mentioned in the debate, but this much is true: He wins wherever he goes.sports.yahoo.com
Just to emphasize this further I am reminded of when Jim Boeheim was on YES Network Centerstage with Michael Kay in 2013.I didn't realize Paultz already had the Wetzel article.
But again it is pretty amazing to think that SJU may literally have the "greatest college coach" on their sidelines now.
And how he was available 6 years ago and they passed on him and then 4 years later he fell into their lap again and Thank God they did not screw it up....
In 2013, Louisville and Syracuse met in the Big East Tournament championship game. Syracuse was up 35-22 at half. Louisville outscored them 56-26 in the 2nd half to win 78-61. Louisville implemented a new yet simple zone offense in the 2nd half that Syracuse had no answer for. After that, teams at every level were using that zone offense but defenses eventually adjusted. It's still somewhat difficult to defendJust to emphasize this further I am reminded of when Jim Boeheim was on YES Network Centerstage with Michael Kay in 2013.
Kay said it is Championship Monday in April and Syracuse is playing, "Who do you NOT want to see on the other bench...?"
Boehiem didn't hesitate, "Rick Pitino."
Will not finish with most wins and he has certainly stepped on his own landmines over the years but Dan Wetzel asks, "Is it fair to ask whether Pitino is the greatest college coach ever...?"
Revisionist history but if we got Rick 6 years ago is he here today or is he at some blue blood program for the last couple years after a nice couple years here? Whenever this comes up I always think about that.I didn't realize Paultz already had the Wetzel article.

I think he'd be extremely flustered and either gone or retired. Also don't think he comes here without Shanley/Kull (I know Kull wasn't here at the time but clearly that was an inevitability -- six years ago, I'm not sure Kull is getting this AD job or its even a thing)Revisionist history but if we got Rick 6 years ago is he here today or is he at some blue blood program for the last couple years after a nice couple years here?
