SJU Portal Targets

Silly Donovan and MR are the same guy, right? I’m literally the least observant poster when it comes to that stuff and even I see it.

If Dinkins and Maher are the Jordan/Pippen of poster identification, I am the curly haired security guard losing money to them in quarters before the game.

1000% Yes!! and from now on should be know as Silly Mullins

What about the academic requirements. Does it matter?
That part I really don’t get because you have to be progressing towards a degree and have maintained eligibility by meeting academic standards ( full time student maintaining a 2.0 GPA) whether you are a transfer or not in order to be eligible to play. That is like rule one.

Someone mentioned how rare it is to hear someone has been declared academically ineligible now. That is due to several reasons. With mandatory study halls and tutors, there is more academic support. Of course you also there is still the old “wink, wink” and fraud around somewhere. And finally, you hear about someone being suspended for not meeting team standards which is used as a catch all for missing classes, not doing well academically, bad behavior, not following coaches directions, etc. Every once in awhile you hear someone being suspended for not meeting academic standard but not too often.

No. The poster boys are the ones switching teams every year chasing the almighty dollar that comes from a better NIL deal.
As someone who is taking a 4th kid on college tours, I have no problem with Cliff. He put in his 4 years, he wants to see everything that's out there before he makes a decision. Totally reasonable and intelligent thought process to gather all the info and then make a decision if you are a player who is in a position to do that without losing too many opportunities along the way by taking your time.

As for SJU, I remain confident that we will land a big, a PG, and a couple of other pieces to complement the returning and incoming players.

As I posted before I think in the Portal Whirlwind folks have lost sight of the fact that we have 8 or 9 players on the roster right now and 7 of them should be contributors, it isn't as though we are trying to build a whole team out of the portal, we just need to plug some holes and hopefully add some upside.

But I entirely agree with Mugs about some of the apparent choices based on available info - which may very well not be all of the relevant info, of course.

I loved Taylor but have to admit there were games where he didn't even look to score; in retrospect I think that may have been a lack of comfort for whatever reason. His playing time was completely unpredictable from game to game which no one likes.
Taylor clearly wasn’t comfortable. We had a lot of over-dribbling and stagnant one-on-one play from 3 players. He seems like a motion-based player.

I don’t think that contrast in style helped and of course the overlap with Alleyne in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

BTW I may have missed it, but when we hit 200 pages did we sacrifice Mullins Revenge? 🙏🙏
Majority of the board:
1- bring Posh back
2- Zuby is a starting 4
3- Lets hope "laterally challenged" ledlum gets his waiver
3- Glen "invisible" Taylor should come back

But I am the crazy one.

Get studs that can win big time in here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm good with this I suppose. I don't need to know if a kid is doing poorly -- I'd be embarrassed if I was screwing up in class.

That's why I thought it was messed up that Trilly announced way in advance that Caleb Love wasn't going to get into Michigan. Someone with his social media reach should have sat on that.

I have a question regarding Dillon Mitchell (9.6 pts, 7.5 rebs, 58.5 %). I believe I read yesterday that JT Toppin (12.4 pts, 9.1 rebs, 62.3 % and can shoot the three) is entering the NBA Draft but he is keeping his college eligibilty open. Both players are similar in size but Toppin played for Pitino's brother at New Mexico. IF Toppin enters the portal who would this Board favor?

JT Toppin. His offensive rebounding and shot-blocking are ridiculous.

If, based on ever improving analytics and professional scouting services, a "kid" is not NBA worthy, then there should eventually be a uniform ranking of portal players with salary ranges based on one's ranking. Ergo, the industry standard would dictate that if a player is not NBA draft worthy, their compensation should be well below the NBA minimum. Accordingly, college NIL deal should be valued more than $1.1 million and would be scaled down to G League level ($40,000) for lower ranked players.
The final fix would be 2 year NIL contracts with exit penalties for breaking the contract.

Kids in college should not be paid based on their value as a pro. That is moot in relation to their value as a college player.

Remember Taylor averaged 11.5 points a game as a sophomore in the PAC12. As I said, I think Scott is better offensively at the 4. To say there is 'no way' Taylor is better is ridiculous.
Better watch out, people will wonder if you bothered watching the games this season. Unless you forgot the amount of times that Taylor was invisible offensively the entire game and Rick even made it a point to tell Glenn he had to more aggressive offensively.

If Scott comes, how many points did he score at his previous stop?

How many did Taylor score at his previous stop?
