SJU Portal Targets

Last year Conway was our first transfer commit. This year it could be a fringe 5 star prospect with 2 years of eligibility. If he can stay healthy that is a HUGE LEAP in talent acquisition year over year. Enfield is a great recruiter but an average coach at best. I trust Pitino to develop Vince into a good player, on a great team.
Throw high school rankings out the window after a kid has played two years of college ball. Kid is going to be a junior, right? We’re not talking about an underclassman and Pitino is not a miracle worker. The fact that he was five stars out of high school means little. Look at our completion on this one.

I mean, even if you want to look at 247 transfer rankings -- both are pointless -- but it's still a huge difference.. Iwe is 174 and Conway was 367 (!!!)

I'm truly not saying this directed at you because I frankly agree. But if you told any of us that our centers would be guys ranked where they were in HS, we wouldn't just be elated -- we'd be dreaming of second weekend in March. It's amazing how much Pitino's elevated our expectations -- in a good and bad way.

Vince -- #28
Maker -- #120
Zuby -- #47
But the 2 higher ranked ones we didn’t get out of HS have not lived up to their ranking in college so far. Both still have the potential to do so and hopefully they will.

UNC wants Cliff with Thiero as backup option.. KY wants Theiro back but making push for Willams... SJ thought they had Cliff, pivoted to Willams(who i heard they also felt good about) ...who wins? 3 pretty good college players who will get 3x what they should. I f**king hate it. Agents are now getting sliden cash to from schools to push the virtues of their offer vs another schools.... is SO much worse then anybody realizes

Thank God we have Rick to navigate this nonsense.

The lesson we should all take from this is……THE IN THE KNOW GUYS KNOW AS MUCH AS THE “NOT” IN THE KNOW GUYS.

According to the in the know guys, players were lining up to come here and coach had assembled a monster portal class. 😂 oh wait….. I forgot recruiting is fluid. 😂😂😂😂😂

In short, no one accounted for the greed and money involved.

Great news, if true. I believe Rick has promised Zuby and family he would develop him as a 4. We may still need another big.

Can’t argue w third point

I'd just say that Zach retweeting Vince's visit to SMU this weekend could mean this isn't a done deal yet. Let's just see what happens after this weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if some clarity emerges one way or another.

Perhaps Pitino’s wants were bigger than his pocketbook? Top tier kids are being thrown ridiculous amounts of money. Now PC seems to be banking on second tier kids and I bet they do OK with them.

Looks like it will be the Zuby show and I’m fine with that. If Zuby is your starting center then Vince and Maker are the kinds of backups you want to supplement him.

Kid looks like he can be very tough on offensive glass…shot blocking ability is not as good as I’d like to see from a 7’1 kid.

Time for Luis and Dunlap to start eating and let’s look to add a forward with some muscle because there may be some small lineups in the future.

When the NIL center valuation gives you lemons, you make lemonade with combo forwards and two-way combo guards.
