Around College Basketball

Fair enough if you're talking about underperforming strictly based on expectations leading into ACC tourney which in turn were based on them way overachieving regular season expectations.
Last year, Hubert's team clearly underperformed. If they get eliminated early in the dance this year, will be fair to say they underperformed this year. But 3 of the top 4 teams didn't win their regular season tournament so to say they underperformed just because of that I think is premature.
I live in New Bern, watched game UNC alum, he wasn't upset as they exceeded his expectations this year, especially whipping Dukies 2x.

As a solid performer for some of those very good Knick teams of the early 90s and seemingly a nice guy, I always root for Hubert to succeed unless he's playing against one of my teams. I'm admittedly a little biased but they've had a better year than expected to date for sure.

My son recently moved back from Raleigh and he attended NC State the previous two years. The lack of passion for basketball on that campus is real now, football is all anyone cares about. Wake now too. They were in the Charleston tournament, a reasonable drive away, and had maybe 50 fans there. Football season was still on.

For basketball the only passionate fans left in the research triangle are NC and Duke, so unless they are playing each other in that tournament they go through the motions too. Once Duke was out, I knew that bid was up for grabs.

They didn't way overachieve in the regular season. They got lucky. In the poll you referred to, Kansas was No. 1, Duke was No. 2, Michigan State was No. 4, and Miami , Arkansas and Texas A&M were rated ahead of NC. Bacot came back to win a championship. Davis was the ACC's MVP. Cadeau was a 5 star who many thought is going to be superstar. Harrison Ingram had a good year. If you guys think that being beaten in the ACC's Championship game by a mediocre team in a mediocre league is a success, then you win the discussion. I don't.

Let’s go Boston college!!! We need to make that loss look better. Boost that NET!!!

Oh wait…..
By the way, did we all forget Eric predicted after the Hall loss that we’d win out and win at least one BET game? Outside of the ‘and we will go dancing’ part Eric nailed that prediction.

I hope you won a couple dollars with foresight like that.

Thanks. I’ve won my share. But have certainly lost some of that share lol. The life of a “sports investor”. 🤣🤣

LOL the Wake kids don't care about football either, they're gone by halftime (if they even go to the game after the tailgate).

Hope your son got some quality time at Beasleys Chicken & Honey and Big Eds Country Market.
