Zags: Help is on the way for St. John's

Amir will help and I'm thrilled he's coming, but our biggest weakness is size and shooting. I'm not sure he can cure either. He's a capable rebounder because he's a great athlete, so he could help there. He's quick and long, so he should also play well in our zone.

But it all comes back to shooting and size to me.

0 chance for Sampson and Pelle. Both have reopened their recruitment. Pelle still comes to games but sits with his head down and sends subliminal tweets while Sampson is enjoying the feeling of being made important by big name schools.

Agree I would say it's 50/50 he plays for STJ this year.

Man, can you give the kid a break. He is 8 !@#$% games into his college career. You probably said Bootsy sucked after his first 10 games too, which were very mediocore.

Are you one of those Yankees fans that complains when they don't win a World Series every year?

Harrison hasn't been as good of a shooter as many of us expected, but before these last two games he was hitting 3's at a 40 percent clip. You cant expect someone to make half of their 3's.

Harrison hasn't been as good of a shooter as many of us expected, but before these last two games he was hitting 3's at a 40 percent clip. You cant expect someone to make half of their 3's.

It's not like he's getting great looks. I see him getting easily frustrated and then taking bad shots. They need to get him better looks. Lindsey is a complete mystery to me. How could a guy that was hyped as a possible one and doner have no semblance of a jump shot. His stregth so far is getting to the basket but he hasnt even shown the abilty to pull up and hit a little 5 footer, it's right to the rim or nothing and as we saw last night that isnt gonna work against better competition. And he's not using his ability to penetrate to set up his teammates.
 
 True but great shooters perform in big games Great shooters 40 % can be expected That makes a big diierence If he wasnt touted as such would not be expected to perform as such No matter how you cut our shooting is not any better than last yr and unless we get a big rebounding,shot blocking center our zone is not going to cut it I havent seen a performance like that where you can get your shot s off and by the way if we just scored reg field goals on our 5 clock violations that is another 10 pt Hope i am wrong but Amir is a welcome addition but not a game changer That is not going to happen this yr Hope the staff is working on some big things. It is going to be tough games against Rutgers and the Hall. 500 in BE play I think will be a great accomplishment this yr. I was nieve guess I thought those type of blowouts were a thing of the past

This is a shorthanded group of first year players. The struggles were not unexpected. Yet some are acting like the program is near armageddon. If you heard Lavin interviewed yesterday (I am paraphrasing), he said this group, and another class next year will be the foundation of the program going forward.

Maybe people should just shut their eyes and hybernate until next year.

He said the 6 new players from this year and the 6 new players next year will be the foundation of the program.
 
Kranmars-I agree with you-Hardy didn't play well his junior and the first few games of his senior year and look what he became-this team can't run full court scrimmages because of not enough players-It's disappointing but not unexpected

I am confident Lavin brings a top 10 class next year. Gathers coming for the CvC and then going out and bonding with the current players is very good news. Lavin spent a lot of time recruiting Sampson a couple of weeks ago, so he isn't giving up on him. Landing those two, another top kid who may decommit, or an all-American JUCO would not be surprising at all.
 
 Maybe with Garrett we can play more of a 3 foward lineup instead of a 3 guard line up. That will help with size.
