Zach B Lavin Rip

Reads like a post straight off the pages of Redmen.com. Wonder how long before some label Zach just another "Lavin hater"?

Zach should be sued for plagiarism. This was straight from the pages of redmendotcom.
This is what I consider a good talking paper to give President Bobby. Fans should email him this article to give him a better historical perspective. Every time I think of just the number of NY metro area players Lavin failed to impress it reminds me of what an overhyped recruiter he made himself to be. Forget the Karlton Townes, Dakari Johson, Chris McCullough, Jermain Lawrence, Isiah Briscoe and other highly rated players, there are over two dozen players from the NY area alone that play or have played on D1 teams that he failed to impress. Whether it could have been Facey, Carrington, Myles or others, his ability to attract serious interest from local talent may be the worst in redmen basketball history. Rarely has he ever been seen with Tony Chiles at local gyms. For a guy that bullshitted us with his hammer to rock mantra, he must have the most injured, sore and bleeding fingers with so many recruiting misses.

Apologies to mods. Do not know why I got double posts

Job well done by Zach.

The public floggings of Lavin will just get worse and they are very deserving. 2013 and 14 are the worst recruiting classes in SJU history even w Sampson 15 still needs a tonight of work too.

The article is 100% truthful and on point.

I love the Lavin apologists trying to argue w Zach on Twitter. Get lost!!!

You may be right about '14, but Rysheed was the '13 class (clearly not the worst ever).

I understand that. It's one player though who has shown a lot of promise in year one but in year two has not played up to expectations and has actually been a detriment to the team with his circus act side show.

There's a reason we only play six guys - because the 13 & 14 classes were a horror show

We'll disagree on this point then. I think it's ludicrous to call that class a horror when we filled one open scholarship with a top 20 player. And, Jordan has helped us a lot more than he's hurt us during his time here. Not to mention, that he still has time left in his St. John's career, before we brand him as a detriment.

Chris, who would you have thrown off the team to create more open ships to give for 2013? If Amir hadn't transferred there would have been no rides to give.

Bourgalt, hooper, jones, balamou all aren't even close to BE players. I don't wanna kill the kids. They came here. They tried their best. I just wish we had a roster w kids who can contribute more. We can just leave it at that.

I also hate that people are sayings that Sampson and Harkless were recruited by Lavin and they made the NBA. I can care less about the NBA and the kids that will come here and leave after one season and bring no stability to the program. Villanova had made the blueprint for consistent success because most of their kids stay four years. And there's a constant pipeline of talented players going there. Not Rysheed Jordan then nothing for two years. There's no way we can consistently be good, and consistently being good in this league is much more possible than in the old Big East. Look at Pollee. He left and had a nice career at SDSU. It would be awesome if we can get four year players like that. That's how we will win.

Marco brought in because we needed shooters and maybe he helped us with Sanchez. Hooper same and maybe he helped us keep Jakkar for another year. Felix perhaps helped us get Chris. JDR for ADR? Amar his cousin?

I think coach has used the "package deal" or whatever you'd call those combos too much. This appears to be contributing to our roster imbalance since we have gotten little from those second guys.

However if we want to be an elite program we need to get the elite players. Harkless and Jakkar should most certainly be recruited and coach deserves credit for those guys. Just need better role players as roster balance.

Hooper and Balamou are decent guys for the end of any roster IMO. Balamou is so absurdly athletic that you have to give him a chance just based on "what if." Hooper has a dynamic tool but just wasn't good coming in cold--I think Stewart will end up being much better in that role...I guess he already is. Marco was just on the wrong type of team. He an AP kid in special ed classes.

Something that Lavin doesn't do (that most coaches do) that I think gets him in more trouble is give info to some of the connected fans to spread to the masses.
