yukon game

They're not that good. Doesn't mean they're awful. I would expect a very competitive game if the STJ guards can keep Boatwright, Napier and Calhoun somewhat contained and make them work hard on D. UConn has struggled with USF and Providence the last two games. They can be had, though Marillac's by 20 is a bit or a reach. SHould be a pretty good game. Branch playing or not may be the difference.

If Branch does play I think the starting lineup is Jakkar, Greene, Marco, D'lo, and Sir' Dom. Marco looked better last game. I want to have Lavin start him to keep his confidence up.

No way Marco starts, I don't think he can keep up with their guards on the defensive end. I think Amir starts with Dom paired up with Calhoun, but I think Marco gets some court time.

i am really skeptical that st. john's is going to blow by uconn. st. john's has a habit of making bad players look good. i expect this from olander or deandre daniels. providence despite out rebounding uconn 55-24 still lost the game.

There is no way we blow out UConn...how does that happen? Unless we shoot like 70% from 3 and make 80%+ of our FT's with Harrison going for 35 and Sampson for 25 while playing great D, I don't see that scenario. UConn can score...they have 3 guys who can be #1 scorers on other Big East teams. Greene will also have to play one of his hot games...he is very streaky. One game he can't miss, other games he can't buy a bucket. Even if their defense sucks, I don't think our offense can keep up with their 3 headed monster. Obviously it's a game we can have, but to not only win, but blow them out by 20 is not happening. We are the last team that would blow someone out. We are a team that hangs around and scraps to win in the last minute or two, not a team that dominates and gets stops to hold a 20 pt lead.

Good point about the rebounding difference...and how it did not make a difference -----for Providence.
Napier, Calhoun and Boatwright are one of the best backcourts in college ball. The key in this game will be defense and if we do not play 40 minutes of hell, we will lose.

It would give him some confidence and that is something a shooter needs and he could be a great third scorer even if it is off the bench but, I would give him the start try to keep his hot hand going. But you are probably right about Amir getting the Start.

By your analogy Harrison should not start since his first shot against the Hoyas was chucking a prayer from 30 feet and forgetting he had 4 other teammates.

If we win I'll be holding a pow wow at Irish times. If we lose I'll be holding a pow wow at carusos pizza or rosa in penn station after the game

I think we take Uconn out to the woodshed. St. John's by 20.

What? Really? We could barely beat DII and DIII teams by 20 and you think UConn will play the same? They have the best guards in the conference and if anything especially without Branch right now WE are the ones that may lose by 20. I think they end up beating us like G'Town...we may stay within 10 for a while but never get over the hump. Winnable game for sure, but UConn is too talented.

UConn: 84
SJ: 72

These kids finally learned to play Big East basketball on the road against Georgetown. G'town ate STJ's lunch on the glass in the first half, but there were bodies flying the entire second half and STJ went blow for blow against a bigger and more physically mature G'town team. They are pissed and they are going to come out focused and aggressive in the short turnaround.

Harrison is going to come out scorching the nets after his horrible game and I think this will be Garrett's chance to play his way back into the the lineup.

One thing that I do wonder about is when Harrison will have that crazy day from the 3 point line. When was the last time he really erupted...Nova? I remember the Cuse game last year...we were getting killed but Harrison was the lone bright spot for us nailing like 5 three's in a row at the end. If we have any chance of actually making a run, he needs more of those games.

Come on Harrison has proved himself you don't bench a play that can go for 20+ points any night. Marco on the other hand has been pushed to the end of the bench. He earned to move up in rotation even if he doesn't start. He needs to see coach trust him and has faith in him. If you don't want another three point threat that's you, but if we become more constant from the three point line it will help our ability to drive, slash, and get some backdoor cuts.

They only beat USF by 4 and providence took them into overtime and you think we are going to get blown out at the garden?? what are you smoking?

its going to be a good and close game that will define our season as a top half or bottom half team in the conference.

We are home and they are a worse rebounding team than us, as long as our free throws make it in, i see us being able to take more than one attempt per possession at the basket. I believe we play to our full potential and pull this one out, we know how to close games now, and the second half of the gtown game shows a much tougher team that people think.

Remember that we have another shooter that has proven to be exactly what we picked him up for, Marco is a 3pt specialist and he is just getting warmed up.

No Branch = no win.

His quickness is needed against this backcourt. I hope I am wrong however...

We've been good at the end of late... but when you look at the totals, well, not so good. If we defend the perimeter well, we should do fine. I see Obekpa getting more minutes for this game.

Sure! I am sure Lavin designed it in the pre-game. Chuck up a shot from 25 ft with only Gtown to rebound. It was obviously a sign of things to come as his 10 other shots were not so great.

Don't be a drama queen! You may be the only fan here that thought he had a good game in DC and that, like Marillac, took "great" shots.
You know I am not a big D'Lo fan but I have never said he "sucks" or that he is "horrible"!
He biggest problem is decision making. Lav has been working with him on that. Staying mentally focused in the game is his other issue. Lavin's smartest move against Gtown was sitting D'Lo when it became obvious he was a liability.
I hope you get it now.
