what will be the starting 5 in october?

With the season about to begin, I'll have to dig out and re-read Thomas Boswell's great book of essays.

On Umpires--
“Almost without exception, they are men who dreamed of athletic heroism as children; becoming umpires was their compromise with their own lack of talent.”
― Thomas Boswell, Why Time Begins on Opening Day

A moment of silence prior to all three games this weekend.

On Thursday, for Miller Gardner
On Saturday, for Lou Cucuzza (longtime visitors' clubhouse man)
On Sunday, for "Mr. Baseball", Bob Uecker (since we're playing Milwaukee).

Pretty good lineup, now let’s hope Rodon doesn’t implode.
Against righties, the lineup (in terms of whose playing) is perfectly fine.

Lefties could be a problem, starting with Nasty Nestor on Saturday.

I really want to see Wells start as the DH, on days when he does not catch. We're basically carrying a third catcher with Rice, so minimal risk in doing that, IMO.

Game 1. Yanks reduce magic number. Bravo to rodon 5 plus innings. Bravo as the Bronx baby boomers have 2 ballantines. $99 on his way to another mvp. Yanks truly have a stretch in the 7th. Just when I believe leiter should not see the bronx. He comes through. I see another Yankee reliever who is going to give me lots of agita.

Yankees are now 7-1 on Opening Day under Boone.

Amazingly, they have hit a first-inning home run in 6 of those games (though yesterday was the first leadoff opening day home run in Yankees history).

In one of the two games they didn't hit a first-inning homer (2021, which is the one year they lost), Gary Sanchez went deep in inning #2.

The outlier was last year, when Cabrera waited until the 6th inning to hit the team's first homer.
