Yankees 2025 Season

friday - yanks over bitter rival jays - 6 to 3
bellinger stays hot with a getty. peraza also hot.
wells joins the team and gettys. only 17 yanks bat.
king cole - 3 innings, one run.
 
spring training - what is it good for.
no longer to get in shape. many players have in home workout facilities.
they no longer have winter jobs. mvp berra worked in restaurants off season for years.,
in recent years, no mandatory reporting until march 1st.
so now they play a week plus of games in february.
what players are in the games?
for away games the regulars seldom show up.
for games in the first half of spring training, the regulars seldom show up.
rarely, if ever, does anyone get more than 3 at bats. typically, 18 players bat.
one spring training i went to a game while the world baseball games were on.
there was no yankee player with a number under 80. no judge either.
 
another item on spring training.
it is when rosters are determined. yesterday the yanks made their first big spring training cuts.
with guaranteed contracts, probably 22 of the 26 roster spots were determined on january 1.
you might have 7 guys trying for 4 spots, with an infrequent dark horse.
monday - many regulars played, yet 17 batted, and 7 pitched.
fried gave up 2 runs but they scored after fried left.
bellinger still on fire. yanks 12 to 3 over the pirates. fried pitched 2 1/3 innings.
 
My excitement for the upcoming Yankees baseball season is in abeyance until the end of the NCAAT.

I have my doubts about the Martian, the batting order, fundamentals, etc.
 
I was at the game Monday night, and going again tomorrow.

Fried was good the other night. The line was misleading, as the guy who followed gave up a 3 run home run, with 2 of the runs charged to Fried.

I fear Dom Smith staying hot to make the team, and then going something like 2 for 35 out of the gate. I hope the interest in JD Martinez is real.
 
Still making fundamental and fielding mistakes. Obviously they have not gotten the message from the top, and from their performances last season.
 
Not the spring training that we were hoping for. With both Gil and now Cole likely out, they will have to rely on Stroman and probably a combo of Carrasco (Cole would need to go on the 60 day IL to open a 40 man roster spot for him) and Will Warren as the fifth starter. Not optimal.

Throw in Stanton's availability being in question, Dominguez' defensive issues in LF and the black hole that is third base, and this team does not look ready to compete at the highest level. Will need Judge to continue being otherworldly, Goldschmidt to find the fountain of youth, and Bellinger to show out in what will likely be a contract year. And, a lot of luck.
