Yankees gets lefty start James Paxton from Seattle.
He has impressive stats, and he will be pitching during his 'walk' contract year.
He throws hard. Strikes out 7 a games, and only walks 1.5 a game.
1.10 WHIP - the last two seasons. That's great.

Yankees gave up Sheffield and some others for him.
He seems like a #1 or #2 for the Yankees, depending on how Severino bounces back.

Whatcha think?
What other moves does Cashman pull?

Go Yankees! I suspect they will sign one more pitcher and possibly Machado. I have mixed feeling about him. He is a great player but has quite a bit of baggage. I just hope they do not go after Harper. I do not think he would be a good fit in the club house.

Like it a lot if he can stay healthy. Now add Happ. 3 lefties with CC. and trade Gray for a versatile piece.

Great move. But this isn't his walk year really. He's arbitration eligible until 2021 when he's free

I would have liked to keep Sheffield but you have to include him in this trade so be it. Swanson might have found something this year but still projects as a back of the rotation guy and Thompson-Williams might have but it together with the increased power in A ball or he might have benefited in being a little older player in Low A ball. Quite frankly I am surprised they didn’t have to give up a little more and that the trade happened this early in the offseason.

Paxton gives them a front end starter. Now let’s get Corbin or Happ to close out the starting pitching and look for some bullpen help with Robinson and Britton being Free Agents.

Preferred Paxton over Kluber since he's lefty, and presumably, cheaper.

Sheffield may hurt us down the road, but since that's the only big name going, I'll live with it.

2 years of control, not 1. He's eligible for UFA in 2021.
I would love to see them trade Sanchez for Realmuto!
I wouldn't. I think Sanchez bounces back big time and according to some stat heads, while Reamuto is better at somethings defensively, Sanchez is better a pitch framing and calling.

Not a big Sanchez fan.
He is a poor catcher. He takes away a pitcher’s splitter with a man on third.
Lazy. Notice how many balls get by him with no one on base.

Totally agree! Not only is he lazy he is very slow. His defensive liabilities far outweigh his offense. He may be the worst catcher I've seen at the major league level at blocking pitches in the dirt and has shown no improvement.

Everyone can pretend and sat its not true but bottom line is No Yankees fan had a problem with Sanchez defense when he hit 20 and 33 home runs his first year and a half.

Exactly. He has a great arm. His first half year his receiving wasn’t an issue; it became one during the latter part of 17 but was never magnified because his offense was so good for the position.

Sanchez had some questions coming up from a makeup perspective. There is no disputing the talent, and the talent has already shown it can play at an incredibly high level. I would be beyond hesitant to ship him out of here given his age and track record to date. Much prefer seeing if he can make strides on the receiving end and have his offense get back to normal. Deal him now and you may watch him make 8 all star games for someone else.
