The free throws are a great stat. It's amazing how Jenkins hasn't improved on that and CRP seems to not make it a point. He has the quickness to get to the paint and draw a foul. Why isn't he doing that, like ever? So many pull-ups.To be transparent I don't always agree with your take on Jenkins, but you are 100% correct that our offensive choices at the end of the game yesterday made no sense. When Ousmane fouled out of the game and we were down only two at just under the five minute mark and with us in the double bonus we had a clear path to victory. From there on in, we got to the line only once and Soriano only got a single shot which was a jumper. Hoisting threes by our guards made no sense. We clearly needed to press our advantage, get the ball inside, go to the hoop, shoot foul shots and grind it out. Obviously Xavier knew that was our strategy and defended it well enough but we needed to get it inside and draw fouls anyway. Trying to get the ball down low to Joel should have been our go to every time down the floor.
I also agree that our guards do not get to the line often enough and specifically Jenkins. I was amazed that he has shot less free throws than either Zuby or Luis even though they have played about 1/3 of Jenkins minutes. For comparison sake Tyler Kolek has shot 111 free throws thus far this season, Devin Carter 96 (19 against us alone) and Posh has shot 66. Thirty eight free throws this season for Jenkins, 21 games in, is far too little for a player who is on the floor the most on the team and plays primarily with the ball in his hands
