Xavier, Tue. Jan. 30, 8:30pm, CBS SN/570AM

where you guys seeing 4?? i had 6 since last night and now 6.5 ...granted we kept it close the first game, but i feel xavier, at #6 - will make the correct adjustments to cover easily.

If we happen to cover- impressive outing from the guys

The 3pt defense has gotten out of control, and at some point you would hope the coaching staff just can't take it anymore. Option 1 would be defensive adjustment(s), both in preparation for the game and within the game, especially given the short rotation that has been playing close to max minutes for almost 2 months.

Short of that, at 0-10 in conference and getting smoked from 3, at a minimum you would think the staff would say we don't care if we lose the game, we don't care if we give up 50 points at the rim, but we are going to run a team off the 3pt line all night, not allow 10 total made 3s in the game, and hold a team to sub-40% shooting from 3, both of which are incredibly low bars and neither of which has been accomplished by SJU in the last 5 games, let alone both.

Tonight a good night to give it a go, a team recently lost to by only 6, on the road, despite allowing 14-26 (almost 54%) from 3.

The great news is if they defend the 3 one time they might actually win the game. Make teams put it on the deck and and deal with our defenders' quick hands and shot blockers inside. That's arguably a defensive strategy better suited to this team's defensive skillset than the extreme man help they have been playing, leading to wide open 3 after wide open 3. But even if that isn't the case, there is little downside to giving something else a try at this point.

Good Idea 1512.. it can’t be any worse than allowing all those 3’s to doom us to another defeat . Make them beat you inside . Risk is that both, Owens and Clark might be on the Bench for the remaining 15 minutes of the first half , which has happened way too much in previous games . Damned if we do, likewise if we don’t .

I'm going to tonight's game. Maybe I can change the juju.

Maybe I'm a Dreamer (sorry for the reference, but it applies); it just feels like we're gonna win tonight, even two years ago we won one game, and this team is a lot better.

You know you are suppose to learn from your mistakes. Yet we continue to go around the pick instead of under. In addition we tend to help too much in the middle instead of staying glued to their man. We shall see tonight.

Per @lohudinsider

Alan Griffin, R.J. Davis and Joel Soriano will attend tonight's St. John's-Xavier game. Xavier has intensified its recruitment of Griffin. Providence and Illinois are the latest to show interest in the @step_basketball senior.

Adrian Griffin Jr. will also attend tonight's game.

Hoping our chances are good with Alan G.

Ahmed jacks up a three, forces a drive, blows a lay up and then fouls on the way down court when he’s nowhere near the play and all of sudden we’re losing. I can’t wait for this guy to leave

Team started game with good energy, including rebounding. Ahmed got 2nd foul and had to go to bench. Then Coach puts in Alibegovic for Owens and things have turned completely. Head scratching move.

I'm partially blinded by Mullin's white sneakers. Having trouble watching the game

You know I don't like talking about coaching, but I will say this every time we get this announce team I'm glad Steve Lappas is not our coach.
