Our rebounding flat out sucks.
The fact that we played hard at the end on defense drives me even more crazy because we should be doing that the whole game
Shout out to ccnobz because of him I bet the game so big thumbs up for winning me back some of my horrible football losses this year so I'm happy we covered
Great to finally meet Monte and Johnnyfan at the game. Both really good dudes
On balance you seem to be in a pretty good mood. I guess you didn't see Mullin sit on the scorers table late in the second half.
I like to refer my mood as " taking the points and winning Euphoria "
+1000Somebody has got to tell Mussini, "Do no take the ball to the hoop in traffic - ever"Offense has looked good at times throughout the year with Ellison driving and kicking for open shooters. But he missed Shamorie a few times tonight, one in transition where Ponds would have had a wide open 3. Ellison ended up getting fouled, but Ponds was frustrated and I hope they call Ellison out when reviewing the game tape.
Ellison is one of the most selfish players we have had in a long time. He's improved this year, but he is less of a player than he thinks. I hope he matures and realizes that he is a member of a team.
Xavier recap:http://www.bigeastboards.com/
Much like the Xavier game was to St. John's, the recap was a blown opportunity to feature a pic of Phoebe Cates exiting the swimming pool in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. For it was that movie that gave Robert Romanus his 15 minutes of fame as scalper and girlfriend stealer Mike Damone, who had evolved from taking Mindy Cohn's virginity to taking Jennifer Jason Leigh's. For some strange reason, I have this notion that you once featured Phoebe Cates in her wet red bikini. If not, here was a chance. If so, it's worth seeing twice.
Yeah, I used that picture already, Indiana last year in the Maui. Kevin Kline went to Indiana. Ironically an almost identical game flow

I was going to go with Raquel Welch from the Three Musketeers but I figured I'd never get another opportunity to work in the Facts of Life.

My friends and I were around 12 when we got our hands on a video cassette of Fast Times and Phoebe Cates was one of the first crushes I had on an older women. I think she was 19 at the time.Xavier recap:http://www.bigeastboards.com/

Other than Raging Bull losing to Ordinary People that GG did not win an Academy Award for Showgirls was the greatest injustice in the history of filmdom
when I think of certain historic moments in time I can remember exactly where I was at that moment. The OJ car chase, the day Fran got fired and now the day I was mentioned in a Fun recap.Xavier recap:http://www.bigeastboards.com/
OJ chase was night of my bachelor party. I was at Mickey Mantle's on CPS when they cut away from the knick playoff game to the chase. Without any volume on the TVs, and with me being pretty inebriated(although not nearly as much as I would be a few hours later), me and my buddies were baffled as to why they cut away to a slow moving SUV on a Cal highway.
And Howard was also president of the screen actors guild so he represented the actor who played Professor X ( Xavier ) in X-men so great job putting the pieces together to keep it on topicXavier recap:http://www.bigeastboards.com/

The significance of Showgirls was that Elizabeth Berkley of Saved By The Bell fame became the 2nd prime time TV teen of the 1980's (following Lisa Bonet from the Cosby show) to take on a slutty role in their first major film credit. In searching for a TV basketball connection, the best I could do is referencing Ken Howard and the White Shadow, which ended in 1980 or 81. Howard played high school basketball in Long Island, but on the show claimed to play for Bayside High. I can't recall a single Bayside High basketball player of significance, although their football team sent a few players to the NFL.

Major injuries are going to hurt the conference in the tournamentXavier press release
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University team doctor Dr. Robert Burger confirmed today that sophomore guard Edmond Sumner suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury in his left knee in Xavier's game vs. St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. An MRI confirmed the result today.
Dr. Burger said Sumner will be scheduled for surgery in the near future on a date to be determined.
"I am devastated for Edmond," said Xavier head coach Chris Mack. "Unfortunately, sometimes bad things happen to great people. Through diligent rehab, hard work and prayer I know Ed will return to the court better than ever. He's an awesome kid, a fearless competitor and a terrific teammate. I'm going to miss coaching him the rest of the year. As far as our current team is concerned, our goals have not changed. Next man up."
Hard to replace Sumner, but they do have quite a bit of talent at that position. That's two season ending injuries for top tier teams in the Big East (Mo Watson Creighton). Not good for the conference.

Actually, Stacey (Jennifer Jason Leigh's character) was "with" the guy in his early 20's whose name I forgot at the dougout at the ballpark before she was "with" Mike Damone.at her house.

It was my 24th birthday and I was at the Dublin Pub. Heard that place closed a few years ago.
I think Bayside may have had some basketball players before my time but had two Super Bowl contestants in Derrick and Ronnie Harmon. Ronnie had a pretty good career but suspicially fumbled a number of times in the Rose Bowl when he was at Iowa. Ronnie actually lost the Super Bowl game he played in. There was a third brother Kevin who briefly played in the NFL as well.

You are correct Bayside High School was not particularly strong in basketball, but generally had really good football teams. One of the players they sent to the NFL was Chy Davidson who led Bayside to the PSAL title in 1976 while scoring a record setting 28 Touchdowns. Chy had a brief stint in the NFL with the Jets in 1984 and 1985. While there he ran back some kicks, but early on in the 1985 season he was released after Al Toon ended his rookie holdout after the first game of the season.
I mention this only because Chy grew up in my neighborhood in Queens Village, played on my little league team and was a great kid back in the day. If memory serves correctly he came back later to the Public Schools (Bayside High I believe) as a football coach and educator.

The best player Bayside ever had was running back Bobby Hammond. I believe he later played for the NY Giants. And since this thread has often been about our lack of defense, Bayside High once finished the season undefeated and, if you can believe this, didn't give up a single point until the PSAL championship game. I can't remember who beat them for the title, but it was like a 48-0 blowout. That team was rumored to have a quarterback that was in his twenties. If anyone can recall that game and the rumors that followed, it would be much appreciated.

Mike Damone's 5 point plan has been the cornerstone of my success!
And Phoebe Cates, while sizzling, is incredibly annoying, constantly going on about "being mature".
