I met Doherty in a cigar lounge in Indianapolis. I had no idea who he was, but he was watching a Pacers game. I asked if we could change the channel to watch St John's and he agreed. Little did I know what I was doing!

Anyway he told me he was all set to be the coach and got nixed by whoever the Father Shanley was back then.

Great guy.

Firing a coach during the season is an awful look and will be a media nightmare. Jarvis deserved it IMO and the university still took a lot of heat for that, especially from the coaching community. The look what happened right after. Pittsburgh, which the program has never recovered from. You let CMA play out the season, where the admin can show they gave him a chance to right the ship in the Big East tourney. Since they know that's unlikely. work back channels for a quick turnaround once the season is over.

Sure it's a bad look. But it doesn't look any worse then watching this mess. He's awful. I'll take a quick fix. From a football recruit in 1970 thru 2007 when my son graduated thru this current disaster. Patience very thin at this point.
